I'm considering attending, but I'm still waiting on a few admission decisions. Anyone else?

My daughter is also considering DePauw very strongly. Probably wont make final decision until early April, but she really liked the school and has visited twice. I would like to see her there! Where else are you looking?

I visited a couple weeks ago and loved it!! I’m still waiting for decisions from Boston University, Tufts, UMass – Amherst, Skidmore, Fordham, Boston College, and Northwestern.

Any body knows when we’ll get our admission decision?

D did Early Action, so found out a long time ago. She got her financial aid package on Friday though. What state are you in?

Anyone doing one of the honors programs?

Oh I’m not from the states, I’m an international student from Egypt.

@buckeye7 Thanks for posting about the arrival of f.a. package – we’re still waiting in the lower midwest.

S also accepted via E.A. and has been accepted into honors. He was very impressed with the program when he made the trip to interview. He is also an athlete so he is having to weigh time commitments. Which honors program is your D interested in?

Decision rests a great deal with the f.a. package as he has very good offers elsewhere. Really likes DePauw – hope the money side of it works out.

MizzNaaa - wow, I don’t know when you’ll get your packet in Egypt! Hard to wait, I bet!

Archimom - My daughter was accepted into honors scholars and, like your son, really liked everything about the interview weekend. She also would play violin in the orchestra and was worried, like your son, about the time commitment. She did meet a student who does both and she said it’s a lot to handle, but doable. In the honors ‘group meeting’ some boy asked if it was doable to be an athlete and in the honors program and they said it has been done before. Was that your son?!

Our final cost for DePauw is reasonable, I think. It is $10,000 more for us than our big state flagship, however, so it really is a big decision. I hope she goes to DePauw because of having such great groups to be a part of … Would be much tougher at a school with 55,000 kids!

We know several kids who are either current or former students and they’ve really loved the school.

Where else are you considering?

Buckeye7 – Yes, that would be my son who asked the question about athletics & honors. And, small world, he also plays the violin (but not at the college level!).

Haven’t received the f.a. package . . . staff said they are working hard to get them out by the end of the week. He has nice merit aid from several schools and a wonderful f.a. package from his “other” 1st choice. He’s been accepted to SLU, Marquette, Beloit, our state university, waitlisted at another very selective LAC in the mid-Atlantic, and has been offered an athletic position and honors at other schools as well. He’s been very fortunate.

We, too, have heard great things from friends who have attended DePauw and my S loved both his visits at the school. Hopefully, the money will work out.

Where else, other than your state school, is your daughter considering?

Small world, indeed! D has narrowed choices to OSU, DePauw, and now she was just accepted to William & Mary … which is very exciting, but VERY expensive. Doubt we’ll get a decent financial pkg from them, and she got no merit aid from them at all. I think she wishes DePauw was a little larger, or OSU was a little smaller. She loves the size of W&M. Such hard decisions … : ). Your son has really great choices – even though it’s stressful, it’s a blessing to have choices!

Has anyone received their FA packet yet? I’m still awaiting mine.

It came a week ago or so… You may want to call them.

Glad to hear those who visited the school liked it. S visited Depauw last week for an interview with the Management Fellows program and the Open-House for admitted students event. He really liked the school, the programs, students and professors he met. On the same trip, he visited University of Richmond. Apprerently, S also liked UR, the campus, academic strength and location. S tends to go to Depauw because he got Depauw’s Rector scholarship (full tuition award for 4y as far as he keeps good GPA) and got in the Management follows program. But, I feel a bit uneasy since UR seams to have better name recoginition, - he made to UR semifinalist list, but not the finalist cut, so no merit-based f.a., and we do not qualify for need-based f.a. Any advices? Thanks.

Are you closer geographically to DePauw or UR? Does your son plan to continue on to grad school? Those might be factors that help him decide. Our D has decided to go to DePauw and is very excited about it! She is turning down higher ranked schools and is basing her decision on both money and the quality of experience she thinks she’ll get at DePauw. We don’t get f.a. either, so DePauw’s scholarships will save her a lot of money to take with her to grad school. She also feels that being part of the Honors Scholars will give her a great experience and a niche right away. We are in Ohio so we know a few people who have gone to DePauw and all give a glowing report of their time there. I don’t think UR’s higher rank by USNews is significant enough to be the deal breaker. GOod luck in your decision. We were so happy to mail that deposit in and be done with the agonizing decision-making!! Let us know what you decide … tiger or spider : )

I am currently a freshmen a depauw so i can answer some questions for people if they want.
@Sinadkus, i would not worry about name recognition too much, especially for management fellows. i am not in the program, but its supposed to be great. I’ve heard that quite a bit of people dont end up finishing because of the difficulty, but those who do usually end up at elite business schools. I’m from the midwest, and here, especially indiana, DePauw has a great reputation.
