YuppittTales, my D received the same as you; the WMP for the fall, with Spring 2012 admission. I don’t think she will be able to do it; no fin. aid. at all for the fall, and only 12,000 for the spring. Our EFC is just under 7000, but we would have to come up with almost 3 times that if aid would be the same for all the other years. She really loved AU too. Do you think you will attend? Had you ever heard of the WMP?

i also got into WMP today and Spring 2012…basically nothing in financial aid. Very disappointing. Im going to try to appeal the fa award. i just updated my fafsa a couple weeks ago and my efc is lower, but from reading here it doesnt even seem like american takes it into consideration

I haven’t heard of the WMP until I got the notification today and I couldn’t find any information on their website after I searched for it on the website. I really liked AU and what it could offer as well, but I didn’t feel the campus was for me (too small for my taste). I had a bigger EFC but not big enough that I could pay for AU all on my own. AU offered me only loans, so I’d basically be paying full price.

This decision wrote AU off for me. Like you said, if I was only offered loans as financial aid, I’d not only be paying full price, but full price plus interest. Also, if I was only offered loans freshman year, I might get the same loans for my other 3 years. I will not be attending AU next fall.

My son also got in for spring 2012, with Washington mentor program and only a loan. Might consider it if cost wasn’t so high as AU was a top choice for him. Good test scores, GPA a bit low. On to other options…

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, allnatural. It isn’t alphabetical (we’re at the end of the alphabet). It isn’t geographical (people have heard in both California and Maryland).

I hate to sound like a well-known poster in this forum, but what it is, is maddening and inexplicable.

I really want to take AU’s side on this, but as notifications have been trickling out over the course of a week, with some applicants getting emails and some applicants not, I just can’t find a way to defend or justify this office practice.

I wish you the best, and I’m sorry you’re being made to endure all this anxiety and frustration. If I were in your position, I’d be having a pluperfect fit.

@Anne I actually got my stuff in the mail on Friday. I live in Miami,FL and I was accepted into the university college program. As well as my scholarship.

Well said Sikorsky, I just wish it was done online! I will be fine and I am not having a fit as of yet. I just hope they give a good amount of financial aid considering my two prong family only makes 20K per year. -_-

I think the University College program is just another term for freshman orientation seminars, but any idea how one could transfer into the Honors program once one is accepted?

University College is AU’s “living/learning” communities. They are set up around various “themes” or interests. Some are very popular and fill up quickly. There are also many freshman who select to be in traditional housing without the additional programming.

I got waitlisted. Did anybody else? Does anybody know what the chance of admission if you are waitlisted? Not only this but like can I apply for waitlist and then apply to another school? I don’t understand that!
