claire, yes you can accept a waitlist spot and still apply to/accept an offer from another school–in fact, you MUST secure a spot at another school if you want to be sure that you can attend college in the fall, because there’s a good chance you will not get off the AU waitlist. The downside is that if you do get off the waitlist after you have committed to another school, and accept AU’s offer (you could say no), you will lose whatever deposit you sent to the other school.

Annetaylor!!! CONGRATS!!! I still have heard nothing in FL… do you live in north fl or south fl? I did get accepted to Rollins College today though!

Wrote College essay on how I wanted to be a U.S. Representative or a Senator

Comments: I am really shocked and perplexed by seeing a rejection letter. Although my ACT score was not the best, I think it was in the range for American. I wrote my college essay to basically what American is about. I thought my political aspirations and experience in the mayoral campaign, and my knowledge in foreign languages would have been quite appealing to American. I thought also my SAT II score would show the love I have for politics and history. Best of luck though!

Wow, I am happy I am applying as a transfer - their decisions seem to be really arbitrary!

Daughter got a thin envelope today. Probably a rejection?

i didnt get anything about a scholarship with my package, so i’m assuming that I didnt get one, so as of now, American is definitely out of the running for me. I was very interested in the school, It wasn’t my top but definitely was up there but 53grand a year is a lot w/ no money :(

D3 Wait listed…no longer on her active list anyway (thankfully), so moving on…

Bingo, Sikorsky, no apparent rhyme or reason. Here’s our situation. D1 is a student at AU, great grades and scores but applied 15 minutes before deadline and never visited until accepted with a scholarship. D2 applied fairly early, made official visit, and even brought two classmates to visit with her. Grades and scores comparable to D1, extracurriculars better. Two friends admitted with scholarships ten days ago, d2 still waiting. It’s weird. We love AU and have been very impressed with the customer service culture, but I’m sensing this wait may end up being a significant factor in D2’s decision. In any case, congrats to all who have been accepted! It’s a great school!

Hey everyone!
I was accepted to AU last week! I live in Florida and was very excited to receive that letter from American!! Congrats to everyone who’s been accepted and to those who haven’t found out yet, good luck (:
