I just called, letters are being sent out tomorrow afternoon. (3/21) Good luck to everyone, I can't wait.

oh nice! Good luck everyone...I'll prolly see you all on campus next year...but its not set in stone yet =)

just got my letter this afternoon!

can people give stats please

Rejected.

Stats, not so good.

waitlisted and not very happy

could people PLEASE give stats

They said that they had 9,900 applicants, and only 960 spots. Don't be too upset. Write them a letter explaining your passion to go there.

Info on envelope sizes?

ACCEPTED! :)

does anyone know when they notify about merit scholarships?

oh and it was in a big envelope

I was under the impression that merit scholarships = honors program and one would be notified at time of acceptance. Daughter accepted but no word of merit scholarship or honors program. She's disappointed.

Looks like I was wrong. This from the Providence website, "Students who receive a merit scholarship will be notified by mail shortly after the admission decision."

My son was deferred from early action and got an acceptance today. We are all very happy!

Waitlisted....sigh.....

GPA: 3.2
SAT: 1860....600R...590M...670W...
ACT: 26 Composite
4 years of Cross Country, Mock Trial (#1 in state this year), Tennis
eBay Business ($1500+/month sales)
Community Service Over 300hrs.

I think my problem was that I really did not put a whole lot of effort into my application at PC. I used the common app and did the supplement, but apart from that, nothing. No campus visit, no info session, never called, never wrote, didnt apply early(the list goes on and on). I really did think that I was going to get in, guess I was just naive. All the schools stats showed that I had a pretty decent shot too, though.

WAITLISTED:
GPA: 3.7w (pulled down by AP Bio Junior year)
SATs: 1310/1970
ECs: Full of sports, work, service
Religiously involved
All APs and Honors
Top 10/15% in grade (rank never actually given)

So what do you think, did Providence probably realize that I was banking on getting in and that I really didnt have a whole ton of anticipation to go?

I did all of the named work above (visit, early app, call, write......) for my top 4 schools: BC, Wake, Lehigh and Villanova. But now I am freaking out. Any comments? Thanks for letting me vent for a bit.

(PS, this is my longest post ever)

I had the same problem. I also got waitlisted. I have the same GPA, my school doesn't rank however. I'm extremely involved had a 26 ACT, did a summer program at Georgetown University, have taken 5 AP's and many honors courses

I considered providence my safety school. I'm waiting to hear from BC, Holy Cross, Fordham, and George Washington. Got into Tulane and American. Kind of curious.

so are you going to even enter the waiting list?

Yeah mistermurph I was absolutely stunned that you didn't get in. You had all the stats and stuff...I would have put it as a safety school for you but I guess the interest might have played a factor. If you really wanna go to PC id recommend you write to them and let them know!

Yup...looks like the 3 of us are all in the same boat. PC was considered our safety then we got waitlisted.

Here's why...they didn't want to take up a spot (this year was ultra cometitive) for people that didn't show interest (and they could therefore suspect they were the saftey) so they waitlisted. I'm willing to bet that if we went after the waitlist, we'd all get offers pretty quickly.

I'm into Pittsburgh and BU CGS as of right now (which is better than PC and the same price haha), so I guess they proved themselves correct...not interested...and removing myself from the waitlist to give someone else a shot. Good luck!

Congratulations to everyone who got in and I hope those who got waitlisted get into their dream schools.

Questions on a postcard, if you have any. :)
