Official REJECTION Thread

I now there’s a few rejected people posting their stats in the other threads but I thought… “We may have been rejected but we deserve our own thread by golly!” :)

It was a shock for me when I was rejected but looking around here… I feel better. BC is catching the Tufts Syndrome I’m afraid…

GPA: 3.6 UW 4.36 W (13 APs/ all honors/etc top 11%)
SAT: 700M 690CR 680W
SAT II’s: 710Chem 740Math2C
ACT: 32
ECs: I thought they were okay, president of a service club, sec. of MUN, etc, pretty solid volunteering…
Essays/Recs: Pretty Good

Oh well… It’s a crap shoot and I lost.

My d did not get in:

SAT v750 M 550 Wr 690
SATII 780 790
GPA 4.0 top 10% of class
Ecs average

She is not disappointed( too much) since she has been accepted to other fine schools and still waiting for replies from others.

College experience is really what you make of it.....not where you attend. I f you have ambition and work hard and enjoy life, keeping an open mind there are no limits.

You will all have a great college life in a different school!

Well said!

I think the difficulty for applicants to Boston College is that there doesn't appear to be a concept of what they are looking for. What do they want in applicants? Obviously they want applicants to bring different qualities with them but there seems to be something very undefinable here compared to other colleges.

did anyone else get their letter?

Don't worry...looking at your stats, you're bound to get in to another excellent school.

I got rejected today and I'm from NY.

Any rejections today from Boston/ Mass area?

Rejected!!! :)

2000 Sat, 3.9w Gpa

Not from Bos/Mass. area.

My D was rejected with really excellent credentials:

SAT 710M, 730R, 640W and a 3.89 GPA.

Oh well.....

it's more than just grades

So sorry greech. With her grades she will get into a great school. I guess when you have 26,000 application they can't spend a hugh amount of time on each one. Good Luck! Do you mind my asking what state you are from? Thanks.

Plenty of waitlists today....Any rejections?

I got rejected. Found out on Monday. No worries though! I knew how competitive it was going to be, even within my own school. Plus it was a reach for me.

Greech, my daughter had the exact same SAT scores, and a 3.95 UW GPA. She was waitlisted. We're from the South - thought that might help. But my parents were both BC graduates, and we thought that might help, too. I honestly don't know what they are looking for. She never did visit BC, so I don't know if that made any difference or not.

Hope your daughter has somewhere else to go to that she's excited about.

My D is going to Northeastern and is very excited about it. I was just surprised with such good scores she didn't get in. We're from Boston.

i got rejected too! i found out right after i got back from my senior disney trip. like last week, bummer
all they said in my letter was that i was acedemicly qualified...

do all the rejection letters say the same thing?

I see this sentiment too often, usually by people who did not get in.... However, if you get top notch grades/SATs, your ECs/essays will not matter much. Just read some of the pretentious crap posted here

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=164537

Reading Kant at 16-17 years? Gimme a break.... Be a kid, sample life, find out as best as you can what you would love to do 60 hrs a week, then get an education anywhere and work your a** off. The school matters only for the first job.

groovy geek--i concur. what a bunch of over the top hooey

can you imagine being the poor admit member who has to read this stuff?

nails on the chalkboard syndrome.

pretentious essays deserve automatic rejection.
