Official Results for Class of 2014 EA

Okay so since we have over 600 responses on the other thread, I thought it would be easier for DECISIONS to be posted here, so later years don't have to wade through the first 50 pages of that thread to see stats and stuff....remove spaces!!

Decision: Deferred

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2030. 750 M, 640 W, 640 R.
[] SAT IIs: (if taken)
[] GPA: 3.17 UW … NEU weights it to around a 3.45.
[] Rank: I’m guessing around 25%
[li] Other stats: Nope. [/li][/ul]

Subjective:

[ul]
[] Essays: My essay I thought was very good. I wrote about a service trip I went on, and how I really learned why it was better to give than to receive. That’s entirely true btw.
[] Teacher Recs: Yeah, I assumed they were good.
[] Counselor Rec: Don’t see why it would be bad
[] Hook (if any): Varsity Tennis every year of HS. President of Environmental Club, Captain of Tennis team, Captain of something like math team. Around 200 hours of community service, I help maintain a garden that donates food to charity (400 lbs last year), and I used to teach tennis to handicapped people on the weekends. Have also had two jobs if that helps.
[/ul]

Location/Person:

[ul]
[] State or Country: United States
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Male
[li] Major strengths/weaknesses: I was lazy in high school. I’m working my butt off now, and my grades are substantially better. However, my test scores I thought were decent, and I have a lot of Com Service and a few leadership positions. [/li][/ul]

Other:[ul]
[] Honors? Commended Merit Scholarship
[] Financial aid? I applied for it, but I don’t think this matters.
[li] Attending? If I get in I’d be extremely interested… [/ul]
[/li]

I’m extremely depressed I was really interested in NEU. The admissions lady spoke to us, and said the waitlisted people rarely end up getting accepted because they have so many regular decision applicants. I honestly don’t like the common app because it gives you no way to express interest in a school you really like.

Good luck to everyone else who applied.

@Price14 know that waitlisted is different from getting deferred. Deferred just means you are put in the RD pool.

Status: ACCEPTED BRUTHA- AND HELL YEAH I’M ATTENDING
Major: Pharmacy
Ethnicity and Stuff: Female, Vietnamese

GPA: 4.0 W (school doesn’t provide unweighted) I also did very poorly junior year- Mostly B’s, a few A’s and 2 C’s. My GPA took a nosedive.
SAT (680 W, 670 M, 650 CR)
ACT: 32 (34,33,30,32)
Rank: 45/429
School: One of the least competitive schools in the state o_o
AP Classes: US History, Literature, Language, Studio Art, Chemistry, Calc AB, Calc BC, Psychology, Statistics, Biology- My school doesn’t offer too many.

Essays: I wrote about going to the gym late, and therefore to its pool late and subsequently being stuck in an elderly woman’s water aerobics class. And dammit, I had fun. My English teacher, who’s a hardass, actually liked it. She said it was one of her favorites, and I’m also confident about it too.

Teacher Recs: I got one from my APUSH teacher (it sounded… angry) and one from my Ap English teacher (IT WAS BEAUTIFUL OMG)

Counselor Rec: It sounded mechanical, but it made me look and sound so good- here’s a snippet: “L is a well-rounded individual who has only taken honors and AP courses throughout her student career. She has taken advanced placement classes in the arts, history, literature, language, mathematics and sciences. By the time she graduates, she will have completed 10 AP courses.” I can’t even.

ECs: Varisty tennis (4 years), NHS(12th grade), National Art Honors Society Historian/Secretary (11th-12th grade), Key Club (11th grade-12th grade), Mock Trial Defense lawyer (11th-12th grade), Relay For Life Team captain (10th-12th grade), Relay For Life Sponsorship Committee, Relay For Life Luminaria Committee, Intramural Quidditch Team founder and president (12th grade), MASS DECA (11th-12th grade), USTA tennis- instructed children @ Harvard (10th grade-12th grade), We Mustache For A Cure- founder and president- held mustache themed fundraisers for cancer research o_o (11th grade-12th grade)

Awards/Honors: Ap Scholar with Distinction, Abigail Adams scholarship, another state school scholarship with an obscure name, Girl’s Varsity Tennis MVP 2011, Girl’s MVC Conference Award for Varsity Tennis 2011-2012, Mass DECA 2nd place in team financial services decision making 2013, HS Science Fair 2nd Place in Biology (2010), Massachusetts
Girls State 2013, Honors throughout HS (except for junior year- that sucked.)

Others: Hugeass family feud during my junior year, although it wasn’t too major. It did affect my grades a lot, though.

Congratulations Rinaa! Although judging from the boys tennis teams in that area, I don’t know how much 4 year varsity is to brag about. I’m really happy for you, and I’m sure you’ll have a great time.

**Decision: Accepted **
Also accepted to Honors program and received Dean’s Scholarship.

Stats:[ul]

[] SAT IIs: 770 Math II, 730 Chemistry
[] GPA: Weighted 101.42/100
[] Rank: not officially ranked, but <5/~130

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: CT
[] School Type: Public, ~500 students
[] Ethnicity: white
[] Gender: male
[/ul]

@Price14
OMG LOL YOU’RE RIGHT
Yeah, the boy’s tennis team lost all their best players a few years back. The girls are slightly better- we’re in division 1.

Anyhow, I wish I filled out my CSS form because I wanna know if I got any scholarships/aid or not…

Yeah I have no idea what school you go to it’s just in general. I have realized from playing individuals the kids from NE mass usually get double bageled round 1 :frowning: … Fingers are crossed I get in EA. Although I doubt it. It seems harder than ever to get into NEU this year.

[ *] Teacher Recs: I had two really awesome rec’s + an outside recommendation from my supervisor at this place i volunteer at.
