Official Results of Emory Scholars Program Applicants

Just so you don't get the idea that everyone is making the cut.....

Brief stats:
NMSF
ACT 36
SAT 800M, 770CR, 740W (11 on essay)
SAT II 800 Math 2c
Unweighted GPA 3.5
Class rank at start of year 38 of 240 (magnet school)
8 (might be more, not sure) AP classes, rest would be Honors classes
EC would be Quiz Bowl, Regional Literary Rallies, church choir, VP school Sci-Fi club, drama (3 plays), and a few more I don't recall at the moment. Nothing like ECs posted by most CC students (but almost impossible to have done more because of transportation problems)
Essays (probably) very good. (Teachers love his writing, took Creative Writing last year.)
Recommendations - top notch as far as we know

Does he go to Isidore Newman?

Does Anybody know when the Finalist results come out? and is it true that they won't tell you if you didn't make the Finalist level? how depressing

i think they tell everyone. via email. saw some posts last year, disappointed, so yeah.

I got semifinalist...but I can't make a definite decision until I hear from the rest of my schools in March/April. Does anyone know if we're only supposed to use the LearnLink CD and register if we're sure we're going to Emory?

You just heard about semifinalist? We've already heard about finalist standing, I didn't get in, but I did get a scholarship. If you're sure about going to Emory, send in the card they included in your packet asking for you to reserve a spot.

what do they mean by "intellectual interests?" what sort of interests fall in this category?

also, are they looking for a straightforward answer, or should we write a creative essay like most other college essays?

I wrote mine on my general love of learning as an academic interest. They loved it enough to give me the Woodruff...so...I'm not really sure they are too picky about what exactly you write it on.
