@MedSciBud If a label is printed, does it mean that they will definitely ship the package?
@AnArcticMonkey - I guess a label creation means intent to ship.
I’m in the middle of the alphabet (O) but if I were to get anything from Houston, I would receive it in a day. Again, I think they’re sending everything not by alpha order but by location, that way the snail mail is received at or around April 1st for everyone regardless of where you are.
Great point @lbrunner. We are 30 minutes outside of Austin TX.
Wait… so the whole 3/24 theory just got disproved??
Ready for 5pm *sigh
Also why do they want applicants to receive the decision and the packet simultaneously? I just can’t think of any reason.
I established a USPS.com account yesterday and did not see any of the mail I have been receiving this entire week showing up on the account. I spoke to USPS technical support this AM and the representative indicated that a lot of folks are experiencing problems with their accounts. Why exactly, he did not know. He said that the issue has been escalated to the Wash., DC office. So, I would recommend that everyone take a deep breath and not worry if they are not seeing anything on their USPS.com account. Lots of luck to everyone. I have no doubt that you would all make great additions to RIce:)
@AnxiousMom3501 We have an awaiting package in myUSPS from PSI, and we are in a 3-day delivery zone according to https://www.usps.com/priority-mail/map/ (enter 77251 for PSI in Houston). Last name D. Good luck!
They don’t need the decision and the packet to arrive simultaneously. Decision should come out today at 5pm EST in the Portal. This is so admitted folks can plan to attend either Admit Day (7 Apr) or Owl Days (12-14 Apr). Some folks will need airline tix, parents hotel, etc. Packets need to show up to admitted folks by 1 Apr so they have time to review info. Just my theory on the whole process.
Only traceable mail shows up in MyUSPS. The packages from PSI in Houston are designated Priority Mail which is 2-3 days in the Continental US. We are in a 2 Day from Houston zone.
@AZcat1 I agree with your theory. Our household does not have a MyUSPS account, BUT last Friday we received our Johns Hopkins acceptance notification via their Portal and then a couple days later received their priority mail welcome package with scholarship/grant offer, “congratulations” certificate, brochures, info about their version of OwlDays, etc. BOTH the portal and date-stamp on the hard copy package were March 17th. My theory is Rice’s portal notice and package are “shipped” same day…they arrive to your mailbox when they arrive.
I called my local post office and they say all this message means is a label has been created. The mail has not entered in the system yet and hence is probably in a warehouse. Also they said this is probably a service and the sender need not necessarily be in Houston. That has increased by confusion. Oh well.
I honestly have a strong feeling that it will be today. I hope I’m not wrong
@CaveMom Early Congrats!
I didn’t apply for Rice/Baylor and I have a package coming so it doesn’t have to do with whether you applied to that program.
Can anyone who received these “Package Notifications” in their MyUSPS give us any info regarding demographics, specific schools they applied to, (engineering, Music, etc)? Did you apply for FA or certain scholarships? Thanks in advance!
Applied for FA, School of Social Sciences, Didn’t do Rice/Baylor, from Midwest. No scholarships that I know of, but did get notification for package. Hoping it’s an acceptance!
I don’t have a package coming… I’m pretty sure I’m getting rejected
Applied for FA, Engineering, got notification that Label was created, USPS awaiting item… not sure what it means. Not sure if its Acceptance, maybe they send all letters the same way.
