[] Essay: Decent.
[] Teacher Rec(s): Good, I hope. I am his TA this year for Chemistry.

[] Weaknesses: Definitely my ECs, particularly since I didn’t even join any club until 11th grade.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: I honestly can’t think why I was accepted, since I was expecting a rejection or luckily a deferral. The only think I can think of is my essay, but it’s certainly not superb.[/li][/ul]Other Factors: N/A General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations, etc: I’m so surprised and eternally glad I got in because it’s my dream school. I keep thinking that it must be a fluke somehow when my mom gave me the big envelope. Good luck to everybody else!

I know people who have gotten false acceptances at other schools, so I'm afraid they'll call tomorrow and be like "oh, yeah, about that..."

Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations, etc: I am relieved that I got in to my first choice school and that I dont have to apply anywhere else now!

I agree with the last post. It's curious to me that so few people are posting. Since I'm ID, I wanted to see how things were sorting out for the ED applicants. I would like to see here on CC that the class of 2011 will be as enthusiastic as the students I visited at Rice. Come on, guys!

Well if you remember, the number of ED applicants IS down this year... so there's a good chance that most of the '11 students on CC applied ID for various reasons. The list on the ID thread is around 36 right now!

...and please don't assume that just because ED may be down we aren't as enthusiastic about Rice as past classes. I LOVE RICE! but applied ID for financial reasons. Right now I'm wishing I applied ED though cause February seems like FOREVER away!

But CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has been accepted!!! Hopefully I'll see you around campus next fall. ;)

one of my friends at school applied early decision and got in. i think he had a 2240, and mid 700s with SAT 2s. Ranked lower than me, so hopefully i get in : )

Au contraire - I think that Rice does consider rank..if you look at the number of students attending Rice who were ranked first or second in their class, you will see that rank is something that Rice values.

[] Teacher Rec(s):Also very good, one by my math teacher, and one by my english teacher who i had in 9th and 11th grade to explain how my effort rose significantly in the second half of highschool

I also did an interview, and my interviewer was really nice.

I do have to agree a bit with jjjjj, since there is a lot less excitement in this forum than last year (LoL, a thread for ED results starting in November) when I was following all the threads raportly. Hopefully, when the ID decisions come out, there will be a lot more activity on here, since the decrease in ED applicants might lead to an increase in ID applicants. =)

I'm very much looking forward to meeting all of you at either at Owl Weekend or next year! Very, very excited to go to Rice. =D

man... it's really hard to study for finals now that I'm in. I need to paste that thing about how if my grades decline, they may rescind the offer for admission all over my computer so that I'll stay focused!

Some school's do not base rank off of GPA or do it oddly with GPA. Rice specifically states that they do not consider rank. It just so happens that their other standards are higher and thats where ppl fall in terms of rank.

Does anyone know how to withdraw applications from the other schools? Do I just call and say "never mind," or does it have to be in writing with signatures and other verification?

Once we send in the $100 (or $150) check, is that it? We don't hear anything from them again until June?
