**Official Rice University Fall 2017 Transfer Thread**

Do you receive email? @umbra505 @bradthegrad2019

@luckybaby Yeah

admitted!! just got the email!!! didn’t expect this to happen at all with a 3.5 gpa. good luck with all you guys!

Sigh

Rejected.

GPA: 4.0 , Midterm report: 4.0
ACT: 31 (32 Superscore)
Credits so far in College: 32
Highschool GPA: Somewhere around 3.4/3.5

Rec Letters: One was fantastic, by an amazing writer at my school- my college comp professor. The other one was slightly more generic.

ECs: Emplyoment since I was 15 as an English instructor, other activities in college have revolved around outreach events to promote science in local elementary schools. Teaching has been a passion of mine since I was young- and it’s something I’d like to continue during and after college.

The competition I’m sure was fierce, but I am slightly at a loss here as I had worked quite hard on this application and considered it my best. Alas, hopefully I get good news from Vandy, or any other college I’ve applied to. The sense of defeat is strong- it’s like no matter how many times I hit the nail, it just won’t go into the wall.

No decision.

@luckybaby Yes, just now.

What major did you apply? @Estela00

@AGoodFloridian rejected as well :frowning:

econ

I was rejected too. I am international student and also applying for financial aid. But I do not have stellar contribution in my application either so I can understand why. Congratulations to who were accepted! For who are rejected, you are all qualified. It was just about “fit” and “luck” (maybe money). It is so nice “meeting” all of you here. Thank you so much for being here with me on this journey!

Rejected :frowning:

Waitlisted

do you guys know when will the second wave be out?

Waitlisted

Rejected, as expected. 3.93/33, 3.62 in high school. Congrats to everyone who got in!

3 weeks later usually @Fantasticbabe

It really seems like transfer admissions this year was unreasonably brutal. If you look at other threads (UPenn, Northwestern, etc) you just see page upon page of “Rejected.” It’s saddening, really.

It’s weird because even though the feeling hurts, it didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would. The jadedness kicks in after about the third admission cycle.

Nothing here. @AGoodFloridiandid not getting in makes me not even want to attend Rice. That is all.

Even at times like these, @SeinfeldFan1 and @usualhopeful [his/her post in another thread] manage to make me smile. Thank you so much guys, we’ll pull through this.

Decision: Waitlisted
GPA: 4.0
HS GPA: 3.8
ACT: 32

Accepted: UPenn, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Emory
Waitlisted: Rice
Denied: None
Waiting: Stanford, Cornell, Tufts, USC

I think I’m fine with not being accepted to Rice. I never would have even guessed that I would receive a spot on their waitlist with my subpar HS stats and the fact that I currently go to a state school. I’ve (thankfully) been accepted to other very good schools, so I probably won’t take a spot on the waitlist. Good luck to the rest of you all that are still waiting, and congrats to those who have been accepted!
