@AGoodFloridian hope we both get in, I’m very nervous.
I think our fellow applicants over on the RD boat may be getting their decisions tomorrow, so let’s wish them the best of luck! The anxiety is real on their thread- and we’re next on that list hahaha
Whoooooa- the RD thread was one hell of a ride! Their decisions came out an hour ago. A big congrats to everyone on that boat for pulling through such a stressful time!
It looms in the horizon. Stay strong fellow transfers.
What other schools are you guys looking at besides Rice and what are y’alls majors? Just something to keep the thread going
@Sheerio10 , not too lively around here huh? hahahaha, we might see it pick up action around the second week of May.
I’m majoring in Physics (applied, or with a focus on astrophysics.) and I do intend to pursue their graduate program in nanoscience.
As for the other colleges, not too many. They all resemble Rice in that they’re small private colleges with a heavy focus on research. It was just the right number of colleges, as a transfer student.
And yourself?
@AGoodFloridian if accepted to Rice, I’ll be majoring in kinesiology with a focus on health science. I’ve also applied to Texas A&M and University of Texas in Dallas with health related majors as well and maybe I’ll minor in violin performance, I haven’t decided yet :-?
Looking at last year’s thread, it seems we’ll be receiving our decisions on May 1st(a Monday), most likely. Exactly a month away…
A little nervous over here :-< I really hope we all get good news!
Anyone hear back yet?
@SeinfeldFan1 Hey there!
I highly doubt anyone has heard anything back yet. We’re officially approaching their notification period (Mid april through mid- June). Past threads have shown that the first wave of decisions usually comes out on the first week of May! I’d expect something at that time
@AGoodFloridian ah makes sense. Just thought some may since it has been more than 4 wks now, but that would be quick.
http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/rice-university/1880908-fall-2016-transfer-p1.html
First notification came on the 29th of April, the final Friday of the month. According to some of the users, the trend was the same in previous years as well.
Though trends change, if it were to continue then we will get the news on the 28th of this month, the final Friday.
Exactly two weeks from now. Brace yourselves.
I’m super nervous! We’re halfway through the month!
@AGoodFloridian has finally convinced me to post over here. In at one place already so even though I love Rice, I can’t post with quite the same zeal lol.
Still, I’m down to speculate about decisions!!
We’re on multiple boats at the same time, but for me this is the biggest ship there is. <3
Although I probably shouldn’t have, I’ve been talking to accepted and current Rice students for the past month… I’ve seen them visit the campus, go to Owl Days… In their eyes, I’m already a student there, which places an almost unhealthy amount of anticipation for the decision.
I don’t regret it though, they’re amazing people and everyday I beg the open ears in the skies to be with them soon.
howdy everyone i really would like to go here. here are my stats and major:
State: NJ
College: top 75ish engineering school
Prospective Sophomore
Major: Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 3.96
ECs: Baja Team, Cultural Clubs, Internship @F500 aerospace company, active in fraternity and boy scouts (eagle scout), E-board couple of clubs, etc
HS: gpa 3.95
SAT 2200 and like 4 subject tests around 750 ish
Also plan on minoring in philosophy, not sure if that would help or hinder my app. Main reason why I want to transfer is that I want a school that is not entirely composed of engineering students
I called the financial aid office to check if my documents were received and the representative said that everything was received, and they have also asked for a copy of my dads death certificate… you think that means I’m accepted?? It would be weird for them to request that for a rejected student right?
Does anyone know to which email address should we send our updates to?
@umbra505 I’m sorry about the situation… I don’t think them requesting a document would be indicative of an acceptance, as the financial aid and admission departments are completely separate from one another.(hence the divide between the portal and ESTHER).
I do hope we all get in though. The countdown has already begun.

@AGoodFloridian oh man it was an internal request, I didn’t receive any notification so I thought I was lucky
It’ll most likely be at around this time in precisely a week that we will hear back. Again, this is from looking at the decision threads from the last 4-5 years. Nothing indicates that it will change this year- hopefully.
