***Official RPI Class of 2019 Regular Decision Results***

@pcrg167‌ it states specifically on the RPI site that JD/BD decision only releases through regular postal mail

@DAIMYO‌

Did you apply for need based financial aid on common app? Maybe that’s why it’s there for you (merit-only awards are posted first, I believe).

DS was waitlisted even though mailbox and email have been endless barrage of RPI propaganda for well over a year. I wouldn’t be so annoyed at the decision otherwise. Oh well, it will be U of Rochester, Case Western or Pitt instead. We are thankful to still have very good options from which to choose. Good luck to those who were accepted or are accepting the waitlist offer.

Accepted Computer Science. 33 ACT/3.8GPA, 9 AP classes, 4 years Varsity Cross Country and Track…
No info on merit/financial aid yet.

Son got in Nuclear Eng. 2180 SAT 790 and 780 SAT2 Math and Physics 4.0 un-weighted 4.45 weighted GPA 10+ IB varsity Lacrosse Supervisor position at Chick Fil A. Nothing yet on aid

Feel the same way sltxdad…a year of constant communication initiated by RPI on how much they wanted my son and what a great fit he would be for them…he was also waitlisted. Disappointing.

Daughter accepted, no merit or financial letter either. @sltxdad‌ We fell for the propaganda too, lots of promises, but doubt the merit offer if any will be enough. We will wait to see, but she will likely go elsewhere too.

@sltxdad @northermom61 Going through this process with my son has shown Rensselaer to be a second rate university at best. First were all the emails from Rensselaer and my son was given the option to use the Candidate’s Choice abbreviated application. But then Rensselaer killed the Candidate’s Choice application without saying anything and kept sending emails that directed him to the Common or Universal App. My son applied early anyway but had to wait until today for a decision.

My son got in with their top scholarship, which is their Leadership Award, however, it is only for $16,700 and only mentions 2015-2016. There is no way this school is worth $66,226 a year, or even $49,256 for the first year.

Rensselaer also extended their regular decision application deadline, which may suggest that they weren’t getting as many applicants as they wanted. No way my kid is going to Rensselaer, even if he had received a full scholarship.

Our experience was exactly the opposite with Northeastern that accepted my son into their Scholars and Honors program with a full tuition scholarship for 8 semesters. But even without the scholarship, a much more classy organization.

@apccpa, Northeastern may have worked their butt off trying to lift its rankings in recent years, but it is no where close to RPI’s programs. You are only targeting for money, even though you said not.

@apccpa Wow dude, way to come in here and crap on everyone else’s parade. Your comment may be valid as per your opinion, but it probably belonged in a different thread, versus where potential undergrads are visiting and sharing results and excitement…

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: SAT score was too low[/li][/ul]General Comments: Well def saw a waitlist coming, I expected a 10% chance of being accepted… a waitlist is just another way of saying, you have be denied. I’m a bit upset because RPI is within my top two choice. The only reason I didn’t do ED for them was because of the money and I couldn’t finish my app on time.

Just telling it like it is @seekzip. 2 universities that seem to be going in very different directions

ACCEPTED! I’m honestly in shock because I was so sure that RPI was the biggest reach out of all the schools that I applied to. Whether I attend or not is up in the air but either way I’m extremely grateful/excited! Congrats to everyone else who was accepted

So are we all assuming not all merit and financial aid stuff is out?

BTW

Accepted Materials Engineering for Fall, Class '19
SAT 2160
ACT 35

Class President, Female

Other acceptances: UIUC, WPI, Pitt, Penn State

Correction, he did get the marching band music, just didn’t play on iPad, but on laptop we could hear it. However, notice that in addition to not mentioning aid, the letter does not mention his major. He applied as a physics major. So don’t know if this means they are accepting him undeclared?

Hm. My major was not mentioned either. I guess I just assumed if I wasn’t accepted to what I applied for it would be stated explicitly

@lysieg it seems kind of vague to me, but other students accepted seem to have been accepted specifically into their major.
