*****OFFICIAL SAT BIO E/M JANUARY 2015 THREAD*****

Wait, sorry I am confused so was the right answer eutrophication? Sorry. @TheGreatCatsbyx‌

Were there any on physiology (body systems)? I spent so much time on those I dont think there were any!

@polinope‌ same here. I think there were none of it. maybe 2 or 3? but i don’t remember anything of it.

@polinope did you take the test yet?

No human body study!

for the DNA one there were 4 choices, two of them had 5’ on one side which automatically ruled those out. The other two, one had wrong base pairing if you looked closely, so it had to be the one with correct base pairing and 5’ 3’ on one side.

@HippoTeef so was it

5’ 3’
3’ 5’

or 5’ 3’
5’ 3’ ?

@thegreatcatsbyx It’s anti parallel so 5’ 5’ wont be on the same side.

@‌HippoTeef Good, I put that one.

The Eutrophication one (detergents --> more diversity) was true, so that answer was wrong (the question asked for which was false about the phosphorous cycle) right?

The plant experiment (three situations, one was seeds in dark room, the other was thigomorphism, and the other was a plant in a box) was controlled by plant hormone or action potential? I said plant hormone (etiolation) but I’m not sure if it specifically asked for scenario 2.

@TheGreatCatsbyx‌ I think I put plant hormone as well

How do you guys think the curve will be like? I don’t have a single clue of how much I’m going to score

@TheGreatCatsbyx‌ I put plant hormone too (I read something about auxins) and I think it was specifically scenario 2

@Kreatyve: if it asked specifically for scenario 2, then I think I got it wrong. In my biology textbook it says that action potential is responsible for thigomotropism (e.g.: the plant climbing along the trellis was stimulated by touch) but wikipedia states that it can be caused by auxins or ethylene through the triple responses : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thigmotropism

@TheGreatCatsbyx‌ your textbook may be right. My book only says that phototropism is caused by auxins and it doesn’t go in depth about thigmotropism.

@kreatyve: actually, i think that plant hormones is right since they are more permanent and help the plant grow… the action potentials are slow and temporary and are responsible for temporary foldings of leaves

Hey guys, so my test was cancelled on Jan 24 and I was really angry. So just wondering, are the questions the same or similar for a make up test?

@johnlopfredculon, i’m pretty sure they will not have the same questions for the makeup. The SAT I/AP exams (also run by the same company) have different version of the makeup. Even so, you might get a test that was administered previously, but not this one.

Also, there was little human systems on this test, but on previous exams there was more information on human systems.

Hi guys any suggestions on good books for SAT bio? Just those sort with questions and no notes, cuz i already have Barrons and PR! Thanks!

Hey guys, so I am taking the make-up test tomorrow. Are there any topics that aren’t in most sat books that came up a lot in the test?

1 week left until scores come out!
