***OFFICIAL SAT BIO E/M OCTOBER 2014 THREAD***

another answer was with gel electrophoresis

@aphro24‌ i put homologous stuctures as well

Yeah, all of the questions in M were so easy. And yeah 760-770 is pretty good, but I fell like I can do better, especially after some AP Biology exposure.

same with gel electrophoresis @aphro24‌

Also got gel electrophoresis for the picture. Not sure what the homologous structures one was…

do you guys know if the scoring scale for the sat bio is similar to this one. this scoring scale is from the released practice exam
80-77: 800
76: 790
75-74: 780
73-72: 770
71: 760
70-69: 750
68: 740
67-66: 730
65-64: 720
63-62: 71

Don’t think it’s that lenient. Think the right one is here.

ya sparknotes prob is more accurate. also @Frigidcold‌ what did you get for #5 the amino acid match question

Think it was the same, NH3. Lol, really wish that the scoring scale from the practice exam was real. 2 wrong and 1 blank leaves so much more room than 1 wrong.

hopefully it is, it barrons and princeton seemed to not cover some of the topics.

Yeah, need to get Barrons before I retake. I honestly don’t know how anyone got the mad cow disease one…

Do you think that the curve will be more lenient than the spark notes one?

It has to be… or else those ridiculous questions that Collegeboard gave us will destroy everyone…

No, I actually think it’s pretty accurate. Not many of the questions were unreasonable.

I think it would be a little more lenient than spark notes (maybe 1-2 questions)

Wouldn’t be too optomistic. Think this one may have actually been on the easier side.

Your prob right @Frigidcold‌ don’t want to get disappointed when scores come in

@aphro24 wait for number 16 i believe starch digestion actually does begin in the mouth. the salivary glands secrete amylase, which begins starch digestion.
what wikipedia says: “The largest of the salivary glands, they secrete saliva to facilitate mastication and swallowing and to begin the digestion of starches.”

@helpmeihatetests‌ ya i put mouth and small intestine for that question

and for #15 (the bile one)
i just remember i had narrowed it down to either “hydrochloric acid” or “salts that emulsify lipids” or something like that
