Official Sat Math Level 2 Thread

Dude...

why use l'hopital's rule?

This isn't calc, it's precalc/Adv Math. You don't need to go pull a rule from the back part of your brain.

There are two ways to solve that problem:

Graph it, and notice that there is a horizontal asymptote at y=2, hence it's 2.

Notice that 2x/x (share the same power coefficent), thus deduce that it is 2.

Why pull out calc on such a simple problem??

3 on the absolute value.
left - right -
left - right +
left + right -
left + right +

simplified 2 were the same

seems that the one who says no is right!
i`m dumb! :(

what is the period problem. i don't remember. and the pumpkin one

is it 60 heartbeats or 120??

L'hopital's rule took about a second, plus that is what I am learning in calc right now :).

I knew that if I tried to graph it or use algebra, I would've lost precious time.

EDIT: Derr, I should've noticed the horizontal asymptote. That would've been ever faster.

i got 60 on the heartbeat one, why is 120?

for the absolute value one, i can't be any solution, i graph it

i graphed it and it was "none"

Aberine,

I did it the exact same way as you did it. But I don't know if it's right anymore :(

My friend told me that he graphed it and got no solution because the two graphs never intersected..

I'm feeling a little sketchy about that problem now :(

i`m girl after all and blondish! sigh

 • i didn`t use graphing calculator.

I got 120 because the all the sin stuff turned out to be 0. I probably made a mistake though. How did you guys get 60?

i graphed it under window 0 to 10. i found 10 oscillations. it asked for 60. 10 times 6 = 60.

i think it was 120 too. i`m in fact quite sure because it was necessary just to plug in the numbers they gave for everything.

did you guys get "2nd and 3rd quadrant" for one answer?

the question means every period of the graph has one beat, so it asks for 60 secs, how many period will the graph have? since the period of the function is 1, so 60 secs has 60 period. am i right?

yes, ur right!

roadrunner : i think so it was the last answer on that quadrand question.... it was something about cos.......

I think it was 120. I tried plugging in the choices and they all gave 120.

question:

which was the largest number? i put r/2 - is that correct?

(this was the r/2=s/3=k question)

Oh, and what about that STUPID dot one? (the pattern of dot pyramids?)

i thought the answer was all values for cosx=-sqr(1-sinx^2) or somethin like that

Right now I`ll really quit this discussion because it makes me feel like i did 100 mistakes on a total of 50 questions

the heartbeat problem was something like this: f(x)=120-sin(2 pie t

what i did was divide 2 pie by the perion son sin x which is 2 pie and got one..so i marked 60....had to do it in 10 secs!!...i dunno whether it was right....
