Do we have to know compound colors or identification tests?
@gxiy Yes to both, according to discussions of past tests.
Wonderful… I guess I’ll have to get started then.
Im assuming you mean flame test for identification tests, but what exactly are compound colors.
Do you mean colors of compounds in their elemental state? Is there a topic in Barron’s? Or any other source?
By colors I mean things like the hydrogen sulfide tests (colors of precipitates when H2S combines with various metals). By identification I also mean the other qualitative tests found in the laboratory section of Barron’s. For example, ammonia has a sharp odor when smelled, and forms white fumes when combined with HCl.
@guy6127 Both the flame test and the hydrogen sulfide test appear in Baron’s.
Right
Got any links to practice tests?
^Just for future reference, you are never going to find accurate links for practice tests, so I would just buy the official collegeboard book of subject tests and take the ones in there. Are you home-schooled if you don’t mind me asking?
Are we required to know Laws of Thermodynamics or just general thermochemistry?
@JuicyMango Nope
Im a bit confused why everyone keeps saying to take the college board review book tests… I bought the book and it would appear to only contain one actual test in it. Is there another book with more college board tests or what?
@harsh98 Nah, just general themochemistry like Hess’s law, entropy change, Gibbs free degree and some such, according to Baron’s.
@dminzi That’s it really, hence why people usually save that one test for right before test day (to boost confidence, apparently, that test is easier than the real thing).
@Synonyms: If I’m not mistaken, I believe the new SAT Subject Test book by Collegeboard contains 2 tests per subject. At least that’s the case with Math Level 2, but I assume a uniform standard with the rest of the subjects.
@JuicyMango Oh, thanks for the info then. I got mine third-(or-forth)-handed, so I wouldn’t know.
Bruh I’m only a sophomore and have only taken a basic chemistry course this year (Prentice Hall Chemistry textbook). However I’ve been studying with Barrons so far and am almost done with the book except for the tests. I’m keeping those for the beginning of june when i’ll takem all and see where i’m weak. I feel like my mind is about to explode lmao.
^You’re going to do better than me. I started chem 7 weeks ago only in 8th grade expecting low 700s
^Why don’t you just wait until you take a formal AP chemistry course (or at least honors) so that when you take the subject test, you can be confident that you will get an 800? No point in stressing yourself out in 8th grade.
@CanadianStud That isn’t guaranteed. I honestly feel like I’ma get a horrible score but who knows what might happen.
@JuicyMango My school doesn’t offer an AP Chemistry course neither an honors course, so I’m basically stuck with this plain course.
@YoohooAddict: Oh woops I was talking to CanadianStud, since I don’t know why he is taking the test now when he has all of high school to do so.
