Official SAT Subject Test - Chemistry - June 2015

I got 1-2 FF

@marie122 No, it was definitely 94%, because the calculation you had to do was 105/112.

Numerator was 105. Denominator was 112.

And I was talking about the C–>CO2 one, not whatever was last in that section. Above, you said you put sublimation, which technically wouldn’t be correct because sublimation doesn’t change the chemical identity of a substance; there was another one in there that was sublimation, though–solid I2 to I2 gas.

I believe I got 1 or 2 FF as well. I know that I got 2 TTCEs and the rest were all TFs or FTs. And there was one TT.

I thought it was 112/144…

To the people who said C to CO2 was sublimation, carbon itself does not sublimate. Carbon is substances like diamond and coal. Diamond and coal do not spontaneously become gaseous–but frozen CO2 does.

Also, according to my calculations, the percent yield was closer to 72%.

For those of you that just took SAT chemistry…what book would you recommend?

Barron’s. Although I didn’t use anything else, it provided lots of information (far more than you needed for the test).

@topaz1116 Thanks!

@MrAustere Barrons definitely. I didn’t take AP chem and took the test yesterday and Barron’s covered almost all of the material on the test that I didn’t learn in regular chem.

@picuberoot Okay!! I didn’t take AP Chem either.

@YoohooAddict No idea. The test seems a lot harder than CB’s practice test, though, so maybe the curve won’t be as harsh.

@MrAustere I second Barron’s.
I got 2 TTCE as well. The absorbance and the mesh one.

@Synonyms What to do you mean?

@MrAustere It means I used the Barron’s as well. The second line is unrelated.

@Synonyms Yeah, I was wondering about the second line. Thanks, again.

What was the answer to the question with balancing H+? (At least I think there was a question on this, might be mistaken)

@Jackson9854 the H2S one?

@marie122 That might be it. I know there was hydrogen in the equation, just dont exactly remember what else was paired with it.

@Jackson9854 i was having so much trouble solving it cause i couldn’t balance it! i guessed and i don’t remember what i put. what did you put?

@marie122 Same, I remember running low on time and just rushing through it. I believe I put 6? Or 8?
