*official* Sat Vs. Act

i took the PSAT and got a 211 - im going to get commended - FL cutoff is 214

i took the ACT and got a 32 cummulative but thats with bombing the science at a 28 and bombing the essay with an 8

should i take the SAT or just keep taking the ACT and try to get my score up?

all of the colleges id like to apply to would accept the ACT in place of the SAT, plus i already have two 800s on SAT II's under my belt

if i take the SAT ill prolly get high 700s in Math, Low 700s in Writing, and mid 600s in Verbal ~ to my PSAT scores

should i bother taking the SAT? im afraid that ill get lower than what i think ill get and id hert me in college admissions since i think i can higher on the ACT

opinoins people?

I'd stick with the ACT, based on what you've written. Get the essay score and science score up, and you'd probably get a 34 or higher.

ACT, dude

yea

stick with the ACT. You should be happy with your 32, but if you want, keep trying to improve. Where are you applying anyways.

im a junior...but id be applyin the ivys for liberal arts in additon to some top med programs as reaches next fall

i would take the SAT

they say they wil take both, but when you look at the stats, most ivies say that ~96% of the admitted students took the SAT. Just seems like the right thing to do if 96% of the people that got in did it.

yeah, in the Admitted Student Statistics for most ivies, it says the ACT scores submitted were statisticly insignificant...

i got 200 on psat,

2180 on sat.

so yea, take the sat. psat is a bad prediction of your sat score

yeah

181 on PSAT

2300 on SAT

dont worry about the SAT

Why not take both and compare.

Take some practice tests for the SAT. If you like the system and do well - 600+ each section - then keep practicing. You should be able to score 2200 without too much trouble if you made a 211 on your PSAT.

If you don't score well, or just don't like the system, then stick with the ACT.

I got 204 psat...

then I got a 2050 SAT first sitting, 2020 second sitting..

BUT A 2150 COMPOSITE! WOOHOO!

96% of the people submitted SAT scores was last year when most of the schools required SAT scores and also when the ACT did not have the additional writing test...as of this year for people sending in their apps now, all of the ivys and top schools allow ACT scores + SAT II scores instead of the SAT scores + SAT II scores...when id b applying next year, all of the top schools would already have one round of admissions where they are accepting only ACT scores and since the ACT writing test just came out there should be even a greater number of students submitting only ACT scores...if these schools really do not hold the ACT in as great esteem as they do the SAT, then why do they all allow you to submit your ACT scores instead of the SAT scores? if they allow it then they shouldnt hold it against u or even care either way. also, i heard that many schools convert your ACT score to a SAT score in order to compare candidate to candidate and if i can get a 33/34ish on the ACT then i think that is like a 1500ish on teh SAT and that 1500ish is higher than i think id be able to get on the SAT normally....
