OFFICIAL SAT1 Thread

the short 10 line verbal section was not experimental because you can't have two quant comp. math sections first of all and for those of you who had that format you had 4 math sections.

nvm we got it right!
Maxim:

A succinct formulation of a fundamental principle, general truth, or rule of conduct

I knew it meant "1 : a general truth, fundamental principle, or rule of conduct
2 : a saying of proverbial nature" but I didn't think it meant short, but I went for it anyways.

The only definition I can find to support this guess is:
A proverb, a short, pithy statement or aphorism believed to contain wisdom or insight into human nature.

when's the earliest time we can get our scores?...either online or phone - doesnt matter

how can College Board put the short 10 line passages on our test. That wasn't supposed to happen until the new SAT

yeah how is Collegeboard allowed to do that

oh yeah and the one with the 3d shape

i thought 2 at first... but by looking at it, you can see that the line can go from 1 vertex to some of the others from the outside... OR the inside (then again im not sure lol) ... last problem, so i thought it was a trick.. so i said 6

What was the analogy, advocate :: policy?

okay..let's find out the REAL experiemntal section..
since some people had 1paragraph question with Math experimental...so wat's the deal?? 1paragraph sections were real?

i don't remember#14 from one of the verbal analogy sections.. it was the question before the LEVITY question. i remember i had difficulty on that one... does anyone remember what they put or what the question was?

does anyone know how the collegeboard can place those small reading passages on the November SAT because previously there were no short reading passages and therefore the Collegeboard did not themselves publish any review material for those types of questions. They said that the short passages would not be allowed to be used until the new SAT is out which isn't until next year I believe. That would be very unfair of them to count that and I'm sure alot of people's scores would plummet because they thought that the short passages were part of the experimental section when they were actually counted.

The Short Passages Do Not Count.

that section must have been experimental for the reason I mentioned before but also it is not possible to have 2 quant comp. math sections. This test was very very strange and I thought that the short paragraphs were experimental but I also thought one of the math quant comp. sections was experimental. You can not have 2 experimentals so therefore we should all try and figure out which one is experimental.

thank god so now we have narrowed it down to one of the two math quant comp. sections.

Well, in order to attempt to figure out which section was experimental, we should try to see which sections not everyone had.

I had 2 quant comp sections and the short passage thing.

My first quant comp section... I don't remember any of the questions.

The second quant comp I remember had some question about the average GPA at a college and something about a line segment AB with midpoint M.

My short passage verbal section had a ten-liner about monkeys, and another about... I don't quite remember.

Did anyone else have these sections?

look guys this shouldn't be this difficult.

-whoever took the SAT I today and had TWO QC SECTIONS, please list the order of sections
-whoever had TWO 35 QUESTION VERBAL SECTIONS please list the order of the sections with the notation on the one with the SHORT READING COMP

the one that doesn't overlap for verbal is the experimental

section one: math
2: verbal
3: verbal (short comp)
4: QC
5: Verbal 30 Quest
6: 10 quest math
7: 13 quest verbal

The 3 short passages was experimental. My math was normal.

the short passages DID count for the SATs in June. Because i had math as my experimental, so i know for sure it counted. and plus, i thought they were simpler.
anyway, i dont know if im right ..but! for the 15min verbal section about backpacking in the wilderness, i think it was THE last question... passage 1 was humorous and 2 was earnest..thats what i put..

uhmm, impeccable: improvement------i got undeniable:certainty

for the 3d shape i got 3...

also! whats a moratorium?? because i put that down for for a sent. comp. no clue about taht one
