OFFICIAL School of Cinematic Arts 2014 Applicants/Results

Don’t you all wonder why none of the Presidential and Trustee scholarship nominees from production or cs have commented on this thread. I know some of you are peeping!!! Would you like to make an introduction because I’d like to congratulate you!!

Scanning them all in sounds like a tedious task, and with the volume they get no wonder it’s taking them so long to get to us :stuck_out_tongue: I always wondered why they didn’t just do it all online like Chapman…

I’ve been forwarded since Friday: status changed twice over the past week.

@kookie - what was your status progression?

Anyone else applying for Interactive Media as a major? A friend of mine in the program said he got his letter around this time, and I’m freaking out (probably irrationally) cause apparently that program takes longer to decide.

for everyone who has the “Forwarded” status… does it say anything about when you’ll be notified?

All mine says is “Your application has been forwarded for committee review.”

just the one line

Yeah, I just have the one line. Did people who had the forwarded status a month ago have just the one line or did they have anything about the April 1st date afterward?

Well from what I heard when I was at USC, according to the dean, for those who weren’t presidential/trustee candidates you’ll be notified by April 1st, if not a little bit before then

dream–have you tried the backdoor method? or other SCA members tried it? I’m going to try it soon. It’s so well explained by dream!! So I want my enrollment form prefilled out with my name , correct? Having a blank page or not authorized is what I don’t want. If my info is filled out, chances are good that I’m admitted to USC- CLAS undecided. But I can’t believe anything until the package arrives. But more importantly when the thin envelope from SCA arrives!! Fingers crossed for everyone!

I tried it…says it’s “not authorized”…i hope that just means decisions haven’t been made yet…

does anyone know of someone who was interviewed but did not even get into usc clas?

…mine also says unauthorized

Mine is not authorized too. But keep in mind it takes 7 days from the day your letter is mailed to go into effect. So it most likely won’t work for us for a few weeks. It’s kind of unreliable, but I figured it’s worth a shot. XD

@little–check dream’s back door method in following thread— Answers to some FAQ about acceptances, waves, statuses, etc…, it’s beautifully written!! And yes, if you check some threads last year there were a couple of prospective SCA candidates who were phone interviewed who did not get in. But that’s not going to happen to you!! Your interview sounded like it went extremely well!

@quwayo haha thanks i hope you’re right!..even though that is a bit disconcerting. i just spent the last hour reading the entire thread from last year’s SCA applicants and i found one who had what seemed like the exact interview as me get accepted…but if some people also did and got denied then i guess it’s still totally up in the air.

@dream-great post! people should seriously be listening to that.

Waiting: Gen. USC admissions, not SCA. She confirmed that SCA’s take longer. I do remember when we met with SCA admission last August, she told us that SCA AND general work hand in hand on SCA department. That we were unique situations because they look at talent, supplementals etc. I think that is the same with Theater Department and Music Department.

Dream: What is the “back door” method? And what is this rumor about mailings on Friday?
Tks

PS…I also remember in August the strong impression is that if a student meets minimal academic standards and SCA WANTS the student, then general goes along. Ya, know-sort of like the FOOTBALLERS! LOLOLOL

Based on previous years, the first few waves came on last Friday and next Friday. Look at my “answers to FAQ about…” thread for the back door method.

Hi guys. This is my first post on Cc. I actually just logged onto USC connect for the first time recently. Under my docs section it says they havn’t received basically my entire sca appliaction and essays.

Has anyone else encontered this. I mailed them in, so do you think there is a possiblity that they do in fact have them?

It’s pretty late in the game at this point. Is it even worth contacting sc or trying to send them again? I guess I’m not sure.

@nwfilmstudent I thought I’d do this for dream
What is the “back door method” of checking your acceptance?

 1. Open USConnect in Internet Explorer. Not Firefox, Internet Explorer. Or whatever you use normally to view USConnect. I find that IE is the most reliable for this job. If you use Firefox you can go to the “admitted applicants” page from the dropdown menu and log in manually by clicking the “enrollment deposit” box. But that’s the long way. If you try copy and pasting the URL into Firefox, you’ll just get a blank page.
 2. Log in to USConnect. You may want to check the Admission tab first to see if you’ve gotten the boxes on your portal yet. If not, then move onto step 3.
 3. Without closing the page where you just logged in, copy and paste the link (https://usconnect.usc.edu:447/Render...ification.aspx</a>) into the same page’s URL box. Go to this new URL. It’s important that you don’t close the page where you initially logged in, otherwise it will log you out and you’ll get a blank page.
 4. A white page will come up with the “enrollment deposit” box in the top left corner. Click the box.
 5. It will either say “user is unauthorized” or it will have a form pre-filled with your name, address, etc. You want the latter.
 6. Sometimes this method doesn’t work even if you have been accepted. It takes up to 7 days for the link to work so even if it doesn’t let you access it, you still may have been accepted.

movie: Yes, that is what mine has been saying. See my post earlier for explaination from what the admissions office told me. Don’t know if it is reliable. Everyone is getting different stories. :)
