I was working on my Production/CS personal statements at the same time… and I just realized that I accidentally wrote that I was applying to CS for my Production statement. Luckily the CS one says I’m applying to CS… oh boy… I hope they understand the mistake and overlook it. :(

I don’t think so. Even if I got Dean’s I think I’d still get the no scholarship letter because it’s for people who didn’t get Pres/Trustee. But I didn’t get Dean’s because I have relatively low stats… 3.5 UW/3.8 W, 2090 SAT/31 ACT… definitely not in the same league as the kids that have gotten the big scholarships.

Nice thread. I just found it. I’m applying to the B.F.A. Writing Program. However, this is what my status update says:

Application Status:

The University of Southern California is pleased to offer the ability of students to receive online messages regarding the status of their application. However, all decision notifications are made via postal mail.
Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

Also, my supplemental materials still show as unreceived despite the fact I sent them back in late October. I’m reallllly nervous about this, especially after hearing that someone else was already admitted. Do all of your documents show received? Here’s what mine looks like…is my status/document list abnormal? Help! lol

Required
Documents and information you need to submit
Autobiographical Character Sketch
Creative Challenge A
Creative Challenge B
Emotional Moment Essay
Letters of Recommendation
Portfolio List
Writing Samples

My friend who got in last year told me it’s supposed to look like that and that the list they give you is just sort of a personal checklist. Unless you submitted your stuff online, then I think it shows up. But most people mail their supplements, no?

Weird, I just checked the document management system page. All of my SCA supplemental stuff is now separately listed under “received” as opposed to before when it only showed up under the document library as stuff that I could submit online/fax.

So before, was it shown as “required”, or it didn’t show up at all? Here’s what mine looks like, and has looked like for a few months now. Can you cut and paste your before and after?

Required
Documents and information you need to submit
Autobiographical Character Sketch
Creative Challenge A
Creative Challenge B
Emotional Moment Essay
Letters of Recommendation
Portfolio List
Writing Samples

Perhaps this change means that they’re starting to process SCA supplements?

Before it was similar to yours, with all of my Production/Critical Studies supplements under “Required - Documents and information you need to submit” and the rest of my application materials (ACT, transcript, etc.) under “Received.” Now it looks like this:

Required
Documents and information you need to submit
None

Sounds like it. That is good news. I’m still wondering if the BFA Screenwriting transfer applicants will hear in April or June. I’m hoping it’s April. Since it’s a 4-year program, and only 24-26 people are accepted, it doesn’t make sense to wait to notify transfers in June. That would mean all spots could be filled before they even look at my app.

Hmm… I’m kind of worried now. When I sent my CS and P supplements, I put them in two separate envelopes for each program. So for CS I had the Personal Statement and Writing Sample and for P I had the Personal Statements (2), Writing Sample, and Portfolio List. This is what my page shows as “received” though:

Cinematic Arts Personal Statement

Portfolio List

Production Writing Sample

Second SCA Personal Statement

That accounts for all of my P materials but none of my CS materials… I’m really worried now, I hope they’re just in the middle of processing… :(

I wouldn’t worry. I sent everything at the end of October, and nothing, from LORs to writing samples, has posted to my account yet. I called and they said to check back next week and they are still processing everything.

well since im posting this in the sca thread…

Hey there,
as everyone anxiously awaits their decisions from usc (ad do I!)… I thought i’d take to the forums to ask a couple questions.
I am an international student applying from Canada, went through the Ontario school system which is in comparison to some schools in the states: when it comes to marking- just what I’ve been told by school officials. For example it’s rare for anyone to get above a 90 in anything in grade 12. The reason I say that, is because although my SAT score wasn’t anywhere near as stellar as some of my american friends (and others from what I’ve read) I did have over a 90 (93 I believe) average in my grade 12 year (in all University credit courses) and graduated with honors. Anyway… I won’t go into my extra curriculars unless anyone is interested but … shoot let me wrap this up…

1) Wondering what some other SAT scores were from Intl Students (for USC)
2) Did anyone else receive the letter asking to confirm your address etc? (if that means anything)

i’m very anxious to hear back from usc but have also applied to other film programs/universities such as Bournemouth UK and Uni of Arts London. As welll as mcgill and other schools in Canada(Toronto/Montreal/Vancouver)
I just feel as though the whole SAT College Board “Trade Mark” Testing deters many from applying in the US

Sorry that’s so long. If you have any questions ask me… and I applied for Film Production and Critical Studies.

ps. I have been graduated for about 2 years now (that’s why my sat wasn’t the best)
If anyone has questions or is interested in ec’s let me know ( i may post them just to see anyway)

After reading all the posts about missing items on the document management page, I checked my son’s account. It indicated that nothing had been submitted to SCA. All the supplemental materials were listed at the top part (under “required”) but only the basic admissions documents were listed under “received”. He called the SCA and was told that his application was currently being reviewed by the committee and they had everything. Apparently they are not very diligent about updating the documents page. Hopefully, this will reassure anyone who is worried about the same thing.

he applied to critical studies. The woman he spoke to said that his app was literally being looked at by the committee now- kind of scary. I don’t think she meant his, specifically, but at least his batch…So maybe they move things to the “received” category after that happens?

A phone call to SCA a couple of years ago (in March!) revealed that my S’s materials were all there, but had been filed in several different folders, each of which was marked as incomplete. The problem was quickly remedied and he was accepted, but I would certainly recommend calling if there’s any question.

Where is everyone looking for the list of documents? Our screen says:

Application Status:
The University of Southern California is pleased to offer the ability of students to receive online messages regarding the status of their application. However, all decision notifications are made via postal mail.

Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
We received the fall grades we requested, and require no additional information at this time. We will mail decisions to freshman applicants by April 1st.

Click here to submit mid-year grades online.

Is it somewhere else on this page or on a different page althogether?

That’s the status page. Try logging into USConnect. Go to the “Admission” tab as you would if you were checking your status. Then click on the Document Management System box and it’ll take you to the page.
