Hey everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. I really do wish you guys the best of luck - I know how badly we all want it. And dream, to echo everyone else - I really hope to see you on the SC campus next year (because I’ll probably go regardless of whether I get into SCA). You so deserve it.

Anyone interested in sharing portfolios and writing samples after the results come out? I’d love to see everyone’s work - I know how much effort we all put into it.

i gotta say, this has been the most active, helpful, motivating, supportive forum ive ever run into. collaboration, camaraderie, creativity, passion, its all here in this thread. if i’m accepted to SCA as a transfer, i really hope to see all of you there at USC in the fall or even upcoming spring. and we should also really plan to meet up there.

@anonymity, if you want to PM me your e-mail id be down to swap portfolio pieces. ive been talkin with mitchster and dream about portfolio stuff and its been really helpful to get outside opinions and share ideas on it.

BTW, any international students get accepted into SCA yet? OR perhaps a better question…do international students hear later than domestic kids?

Quick change of topic: Anyone seen Fantastic Mr.Fox? I just stumbled across it the other day and thought it was quite a good romp. Never came out here so I completely missed it. But yeah, I highly recommend it.

@everyone - I’d love to share portfolio stuff too, so PM me as well if you’d like to see. It’s a nice way to get your mind off of waiting.

@shicko - No SCA internationals yet, but there have been other internationals. Fantastic Mr. Fox is awesome, I love that animation style. The score was also unexpectedly great.

@Dream, thanks. Man but didn’t you just love that really dry sort of humor? I don’t know, for me it felt like such a hidden gem (maybe not for you guys state-side). Although, I didn’t really pick up on the score I think I’ll go take another gander at the film.

Hi everyone,
The information you all have provided has been extremely helpful. I also applied for SCA Production and Screenwriting. I recd a phone interview from Production on Oscar Sunday, and my questions were pretty similar to the others. As of yesterday, I could log on through the back door. Today, I FINALLY recd my acceptance to USC along with acceptance to SCA Production and I’m SO excited! The letter is dated 3/12 and is postmarked 3/16. I’m from Dallas, TX, and it was sent priority mail…the most incredible folder I’ve ever seen! “Welcome to the Trojan Family.”

Cannot wait to hear about everyone else. GOOD LUCK!

My status has followed the same pattern (I’m at “Recieved” and “missing documents”) so I’m pretty excited. I’m hoping there’s a package either today or tomorrow in my box.

I just came across this thread today. It has given me tremendous insight and help. I am a freshman undergrad applicant for production.
Nothing has come for me in the mail and my status on USCConnect is forwarded…
Backdoor said I was unauthorized… I live in NY, so I’m not sure how long I expect this mail to take. For some reason I have a bad feeling I will get rejected. I hate my writing sample, because I didn’t spend enough time on it as I should have. USC is my 2nd choice to FSU’s film program.
Plus my academics aren’t admissible at all…
GPA 3.2
SAT 1630

I tried selling myself with my dedication to the craft. I got a great letter of rec from a USC writing alumni (now Columbia University Production Grad Student) for working on her thesis film. Another letter from the Location Manager of Jodie Foster’s film “The Beaver” for volunteering all my free time to assisting the Locs. And Westchester’s film commissioner wrote me one as well because of how impressed she is with me for all the film festivals I have won…
Good luck to everyone!

@dream - I’d like to personally thank you for all your help first off. I have no idea when I got the status change, because I haven’t looked at it in months. FSU is probably one of the most completive programs (and highly underrated. If you don’t get into SCA, I highly recommend you look at FSU.) I was selected for a mandatory interview two weeks ago, which means I have a chance. (50 or so applicants get picked for an interview and only 20 come out.) i will hear from them in the next few weeks…

Blah, guys… I don’t think I’m in. My status is still on forwarded. The back door links don’t even load for me all of a sudden so I can’t even check those. I guess the OASIS method was a dud.

My son’s status went to “forwarded” today, after being at “reviewed” since he first checked long ago. I have no idea if this is bad news, but at least we know that his application didn’t fall under the desk in some office (the status check has also indicated that nothing had been received despite numerous phone calls).
I know all of you will be happy where ever you end up. Remember, there are plenty of great filmmakers who did not go to USC!

Dream, did you apply or get accepted anywhere else? I know this is your 1st choice, but just wondering. I actually filled out the housing at another school a few days ago, just in case this doesn’t work out. I don’t want to lose out on housing since it is filled at 1st come, 1st serve.

It is getting hard to wait, but hopefully you will be in Friday’s wave.

@tornados - yeah, I got accepted at Wisconsin-Madison but they don’t give good financial aid to out of state students. I have yet to hear from NYU (bad financial aid), Northwestern (very unlikely that I get in there), and Carnegie Mellon (meh). Unfortunately I can only go to a school that meets 100% of determined need so I won’t be able to attend the one that I got into. If worse comes to worst I’ll go to a small nearby LAC with a very late application date but I don’t want to go there. :/
