Does anyone know how we find out about merit scholarships and/or need based aid? I know we are mailed a letter but I’m out of town the next few weeks and am hoping something will be posted on the application status portal

@djones24 Merit Scholarship would have been written in your congratulations letter (and i’m pretty sure you’ll see it in the package when they send it out). I’m unsure about need based aid because for pitzer, they mailed it to me but i didn’t find anything on my portal

i’m so grateful to have gotten into scripps and know how hard it can be to not be accepted, so nobody should lose hope!! i got rejected from pomona last week and got a little nervous, but i feel like we need to realize that rejections aren’t personal at all and should not be taken as such; college admissions is extremely random and unfair at times, so we must accept this and know that everything will be ok in the grand scheme of things, even if it doesn’t seem so right now.

ACCEPTED! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!!! OH MY GOD!!

@isvbellelee thanks! My D18 had just stepped into 2 hour dance class when the decisions came out. I was trying to get a grasp of her chances. With similar stats, she got in as well, but no merit. Congrats to you!

@Onlineschoolworkstoo No problem & thank you so much  !! Congratulations on your daughter’s admittance to Scripps as well

everyone is probably aware of this by now, but got an email earlier today with financial aid package!

Accepted with James Scripps scholarship. What are the monetary values of the other awards? I got 27k.
I’m happy and appreciative but probably not going to be able to afford it and I got a full tuition scholarship to USC already.

@khamasaki , that is Scripps’ biggest merit scholarship. The Common Data set says that about 20% get merit aid, averaging 16K. It tops out at the JESS award, which I think goes to about 5%. So, congrats on this and on the full-tuition scholarship at USC!

My D got the James E. Scripps Scholar award also. Anybody else taking them up on the overnight during the week of 4/10?

My daughter never interviewed or visited the Scripps campus so that is what probably caused her to be waitlisted. Last year Scripps eventually accepted 83 waitlisted students, previous years 0 students; we have a feeling that it may be back to 0 students again this year. But she has a full scholarship to Berea College, President’s Scholarship at UVM, and full tuition scholarship at Southwestern University in Texas. Bryn Mawr did not offer enough aid. Congratulations to all the accepted students, Scripps seems awesome!

@lb1218 They emailed you your financial aid award? I figured it would come in the admission/welcome packet.

@smcirish I thought so too, but it was uploaded to my admissions portal and then I later received instructions on how to access a separate financial aid portal.

Admitted with James E. Scripps award (yay!) – it’s a shame that the FA is so bad though :frowning: Even with that award they’re asking for twice what I can afford. It’s a great school though - congratulations to everyone who will be attending next year. Enjoy that warm Cali weather for me while I’m freezing in Massachusetts

@pey4343 if Scripps is at the top of your list and if there is a reason your EFC is undoable, you can get together any documentation you have and send it to financial aid. Call them and ask what you can send them or do to get the EFC adjusted. They aren’t in the business of making it easy, but I think they would agree that they are there to make Scripps possible for those who are admitted.

Anyone get an acceptance packet in the mail? We live in TX and D18 has not received one yet. She did get virtual yes message.

@Onlineschoolworkstoo We got my D’s acceptance package yesterday, and we live in the Chicago suburbs. It’s a little cardboard box with some goodies in it!
