Official SIMR 2014 Thread

I need someone who already applied to college to look over my essay before I turn it in. :frowning:

Turned it in. GL everyone.

I have taken the SAT once and I got a 1950, but I am going to take it again but it is after the deadline. Should I post my score?

Just turned it in, S/O to @PaintTheTears who helped me a bunch! GL everybody :)

Just turned it in too! Shaking with relief that it went through, lol.
Goodluck guys
@ladykarisma I donā€™t think it will hurt to submit it
you wouldnā€™t be able to submit anything after the deadline thoughā€¦
By the way, does anyone know when the decisions are made?

@PrincessFaerie The website said April after I turned the app in.

Hey, good luck everyone! You all are incredibly talented people and I wish you guys the best of luck with SIMR and I know that your passion will take you far (:

@PaintTheTears Thank you so much for your help and advice!

Did anybody get an email notification that says your teacher sent the recommendation letter???

@jelly865 Yes, you get that email as soon as your teacher submit the recommendation.

^idk about that. Iā€™m pretty sure both my teachers sent recs, and I didnā€™t get any emails whatsoever.

actually um jk about that^. Mixed it up with another program (jackson labs) lol

although. I didnā€™t get any emails either. Though this is probably because my teacher submitted it before I even submitted my application, which was still over a week before the deadline

Yeah I got an email about the rec. letter

So is anybody gonna apply to more programs? If so, which ones?

Iā€™m pretty sure the majority of deadlines (for relatively good programs) are over by now; the few that are left are usually minor regional stuff

anyway, what else did you guys all apply to this season?

@gatsbydies I am applying to HSHSP and SAMS at Carnegie Mellon. I missed the deadlines for the RSI and the other MIT summer programs :frowning:

lol am I like the only senior here?
I applied to SIMR, Jax, BoA internship, ISSI, some other stuff canā€™t remember atm. fat chance getting in though, so will probably end up working at a local restaurant or something lol

By the way, this is totally unrelated to SIMIR application, but should I retake my SAT? I got 2080, 2040, and then 2290. I am thinking about applying to one of the HYPS or MIT ED and feel like my scores are not good enough. :frowning: Being so close to 2300s is very unsatisfying. Most people online advise to not take the SAT over 3 times, but my SAT prep teacher says it doesnā€™t matter, my parents really want me to retake it, and I know of several people who took the SAT over 3 times and still went to schools like Stanford. So should I retake?

if you wanna waste 50 bucks for no random reason as well as give up a perfect good Saturday morning, be my guest

if you wanna be not stressed out and still get into a good school anyway (which shouldnā€™t be your goal, btw) donā€™t take it

work on your ECā€™s if you want to get into your schools. and essays. and recs. and having fun.

thatā€™s a really good SAT scoreā€¦2290 imo is no different than 2300. however if you want to go for a 2350-2400 then retake it.
Iā€™m applying to HSHSP and I applied to LHI at the university of Minnesota (local cardiology internship). So crossing my fingers for that one.
