Hi everyone! I am most interested in Skidmore College. I am applying to transfer there, as well as Lewis&Clark College, Bard College, University of San Diego, Whitman College, and Lawrence University. I was wondering if there are any prospective Skidmore transfer students out there! What are your statistics like? When did/will you submit your application?

Hi I applied to Skidmore as well. My GPA is a 3.6, but I had a good essay and three letters of rec from professors who think v highly of me. Also I taught a class as part of my schools elective program. My top choice is Smith, but I may well end up at Skidmore. I also applied to Hampshire, Willamette, Wesleyan, and Kenyon. I rly wish I had applied to Oberlin.

Hey anon! Awesome! What school are you currently at? I’m at a community college in California!

I’m at a very large cal state university in northern california. I just feel like I’m not getting the real college experience here. mainly I’m transferring for the small class sizes, obviously very liberal attitude on campus, and more political/ambitious students.

I totally understand. I actually went to UCSB for a quarter of my first year and HATED the large size. So we are definitely on the same boat. Did you have an interview, and did you already apply? I had an interview, went to an off campus info session in Los Angeles, and applied this past week. My current GPA is 3.75 and I have a 4.0 this semester. I am SO nervous though since coming from a community college is a little less prestigious than a four year!

I dont think that will be an issue. Your stats sound great. Yeah i applied back in october! I was sure right away that i wanted out. I wish i had interviewed though. Skidmore seems more transfer friendly than most schools. Also what do you plan to study?

Wow you applied in October?? Even though the deadline is in April? Have they spoken with you? I’m sorry for all the questions, I’m just so curious about other applicants! Do you know when we hear back from them? They’re definitely more transfer friendly! Will you be entering as a sophomore or junior? I plan to study Biology and Psychology :)

Those are tough majors. I applied early because i knew i wanted to leave. I heard somewhere that we find out 6 weeks from march 17 but that i might not be true. I’m applying as a Junior and i hope to study either government or american studies. They contacted me to tell me my app was recieved and a few other things but nothing notable

yeah i really love bio and psych though. government and american studies are both really interesting majors! did you apply to all your schools with those majors? the nice thing about skidmore is that it doesn’t accept us based on our majors. currently by the end of this spring semester i will have 42 units, so i will be at a sophomore and a half. what about you? how are your high school stats by the way? i’m so desperate to hear back from all these schools already… where did you hear we find out 6 weeks from march 17? i asked the transfer coordinator and he said that the applications sent in earliest are those that are responded to first (i guess). you must be so ready to hear back from schools since you applied in october! may i ask what your essays/supplements were about?

Yeah i applied to some schools as some as american studies. I’ll be a junior, so i’m a little ahead of you. My high school stats are terrible! And my SAT is too low to mention. I hope they focus on how much i’ve improved. Idk where i heard that. I think it was this website. They didnt download my application from the common app until early march. So they look at all the transfers apps at once. For my essays i just wrote about how much i liked the school, i worked hard on them. You?

Oh I see! Well the further you are from high school, the less likely they will look at those stats. I have a really low SAT score too. It was 1730 but I don’t think they’ll look at those as much as our current college stats. Do you have a lot of EC’s? Yeah they downloaded mine on the 18th. Hopefully we hear back sooner. I really want it to be in April instead of late may. For my essays I wrote about why I wanted a small community like skidmore and also that I hope to be a part of their environmental club!

I got accepted to smith! Probably going to go there then

Congrats! You must be so happy! Definitely keep in touch and let me know if you are accepted to any other schools including Skidmore :)

Is anyone else applying to Skidmore??

bumpbumpbump

Anyone else? Bumpbump

I got rejected from skidmore! Weird, Smith was my first choice so I’m not too broken up about it but rejection still sucks. Have you heard back?

Wow! I’m so surprised. You are such a great candidate!! Did you get your letter today? Where do you live? I live in California so I don’t think I’ll get my letter for quite some time. I’m so nervous though! At least smith was your top! Skidmore is mine :/

I dont think skidmore is transfer friendly. Also they take financial need into account. Unlike smith that doesnt taks your economic need into account, they even promise to meet full need of all admitted students. Im sure you’ll have more luck with lewis and clark. I know another transfer that was recently accepted. Also like i said before i live in norcal

Lewis and clark is more respected in portland than skidmore is in new york. You should look at your other options
