Official Spring 2012 Cornell Transfer Thread

So people, I’ve been checking my housing portal regularly for a while now, and before it used to say some kind of runtime error when I tried to log in, but now it says “Either your session has timed out or you are not currently logged in.”

Honestly, I don’t think this is a good thing because the majority of people who got this message in previous transfer years ended up getting rejected…

Anyone else get this when they try to log in?

The link I’m using is: [Housing - logging-in-to-the-housing-portal](<a href=“Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University)

@transfersoon, I am applying for AEM major/ College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

I called the admission office for this matter about a month ago, they siad I don’t have to send my official AP score by the time I am applying for transfer.

But now, I got an email saying that I should sendd them in. so I am like " O.O " . Why now?

@coolvip, I tried it for the first time just now and got the same result as yours, but would it make more sense that we wait till like early November and log in again?

Yeah I think it is a bit early to assume no housing login means you were rejected.

@coolvip Yeah I tried logging in a few times… at first it didn’t work but, this morning I was able to log in and place an application for housing. I was quite surprised. But honestly I don’t think this is in any way indicative of an acceptance.

What login and password are you using to get into the housing portal? I’m using my application status login/password, but it’s not doing anything.

Applicant ID and password, the same one you use to check your application status. I was bored so I kept trying and it went through.

@NYCmaria, when did you start trying, though? Heck, with someone being able to log in, I start to think I may have been rejected.:frowning:
And did you ever get this message before? → “Either your session has timed out or you are not currently logged in.”

@wykjohn, I started trying a few days ago and it didn’t work. I got the same message too. But then I did today and it worked. Try again, just make sure you’re logged out of the status site and it might go through. But really don’t get discouraged I’m sure it has nothing to do with acceptance. I would call up the office and ask if they were only open now…

The message that I get when I use that login is:

“Unable to log in with the supplied NetID and password.”

Also see if it works when you reset the history of your browser. Thats what I do all the time thats probably why. But don’t focus on that too much it isn’t november yet.

Its not a NetID, use the AppID.

https://housingweb.campuslife.cornell.edu/AuthenticatedAPPID/site/cornell/SignInCornell.aspx

If you guys search for Cornell Transfer threads from years past you will see some people who got admitted and still couldn’t log into housing for a while(with that same error message).

Don’t put too much stock into the housing portal thing just yet, IMO.

Of course getting the message doesn’t mean you are rejected, but from what I’ve read (basically read all the transfer threads), it means your decision will come late and you have a greater chance of being rejected. By the way, if you can log in, it means you’re in. There wasn’t a single person in any of the previous threads who could log in but didn’t get accepted, so congrats NYC!

But anyways, it’s still October, so there probably isn’t anything to worry about. If you’re still getting the message after the first week of November… that’s a different story though…

“But anyways, it’s still October, so there probably isn’t anything to worry about. If you’re still getting the message after the first week of November… that’s a different story though…”

And that’s EXACTLY why this shouldn’t be an issue. It’s October. Most of the housing login discussion from last year came in the middle of November during the height of notifications.

Like gmankiw, i got an email asking for my AP scores, but she did not request official scores. Just a fax…

so NYCmaria r u GT?

Hey Guys! I transferred to Cornell this semester, meaning fall 2011, and a friend of mine is applying for 2012 Spring transfer, so I want to know how things are going and would like to share info I have from my own experience.

To my knowledge, if you can log into the housing portal, you are definitely in. This happened when I got in. But do not panic if you can’t yet, cos I was not able to log in for quite a long time before I could.

By the way I am in CALS, Bio major. Good luck to everyone!

Do you only get one chance a day to log into the housing?

@deadhead654 I’m not sure, but I think they will put the admitted ones into their database on a daily basis.
