Official Spring 2014 Cornell Transfers Thread

Cool! How’s Bing? I might apply there. Are you applying anywhere else for the spring?

My stats:
Applying: From top 20 national university
To: CALS, Biological Sciences Major as Sophomore
GPA: 3.96
HS GPA: 4.0
SAT: 2300+ SAT
EC’s: Many service oriented, socially involved, athlete

Worried about my recs considering I never attended office hours. I’ve never applied to Cornell, but I feel like it would be an amazing fit! I’m rooting for everyone on this forum. I hope to hear good news

Your stats are looking great! Thank goodness you’re applying to CALS haha. Best of luck!

@JPAPAS: Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been really busy with school. I am applying to Cornell and possibly NYU.

Also how is your supplemental essay? Mine comes out to about 600 words. I’m thinking that’s too long, but I’d like to hear some more opinions.

@Ankitttt Sounds good. I took a semester at NYU. If you have any questions I’m glad to help.
About the essay, mine was 650 words. I think it’s best to fully demonstrate: why Cornell? why specific college in Cornell? and specifically what major you are prepared to enter into. My last application to Cornell had little information on those topics, and I think that was a mistake.

Did you get an applicant ID yet?

I haven’t submitted my application yet, should be getting it in by next Monday or Tuesday. I’m actually visiting the school this Friday, hopefully that helps out for admissions haha. And cool, why did you transfer out of NYU? I love the atmosphere, it was kind of a dream school for me out of high school.

You will definitely enjoy your visit to Cornell, it’s such a beautiful place.

NYU has very limited financial aid for transfers, unfortunately. It’s a good school (professors are top notch and the students have created a very active and comfortable environment, advisors are NOT that great) however, other colleges are more affordable for me.
And I want a normal big campus lol! Washington Square Park just didn’t do it for me.

Hey guys,

Have any of you received your applicant id? I submitted my common app on the 15th but havent got any email yet…?

Have a nice day!!

Nope. I submitted my application 09/09. I think we will get them closer to the deadline.

Hey guys what time will you be done with midterms? Can’t wait to send the report over lol

I’m hoping to get them in by October 15th-20th. Unfortunately, I have a late-start class. I might send that in separately.

Common App revamped their system this year, so the process is somewhat new to everyone. Admissions told me that they are waiting on Common App so that they can download the applications around next week or so, and then they will begin to send out ApplicantIDs.

Thx and can’t wait!! :P

Is anyone applying to AEM? :)

I applied to AEM.

Submitted mine to CAS on 10/01. Wishing everyone on this thread good luck!

Submitted to ILR. Lets give heads ups when people start getting applicant IDs yeah?

Good luck everyone!

Hoping to get the app-ids next week.

Hey guys and gals so just making sure: my official electronic high school transcript didn’t arrive until Oct 4th (even though I requested it in the beginning of Sept) but it’s np right? Appreciate the responses~

Definitely not. They probably haven’t started reviewing our applications yet.
