waitlisted. how many ppl got waitlisted and how many ppl will likely get accepted?

"Now I have to decide between USC and Stanford!"

You're effing kidding me right???!!!? Even I got into USC and I can only DREAM of going to Stanford. My brother went there and he loved it. For all of you who are deciding between MIT and Stanford, it's no contest if you have any personality in you. Stanford has laid back, well just cool people. They're all just happy kids there, but MIT has cutthroat nerds with top SAT scores and no real talent/social skills. I'd go with Stanford.

Thechiiguin, did you end up using that firework essay? I loved it!

Rejected!...

Decision: Waitlisted

Counselor Rec: Fabulous
Hook (if any): girl interested in physics (?)

Location/Person:
State or Country: NY
School Type: Small Private
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Extracurriculars: Dorm proctor (I go to boarding school), lots of singing/a capella, photography
Why I think I was accepted/rejected: Because I wasn't 100% in love with Stanford and I guess it showed.
Other Thoughts: Whatever...! I'm staying on the list for now just to "keep my options open" -- that is, on the miniscule chance that they let me in!

Quizquick: Thank you! I did use it. I even drew a little picture to go along with it.

okay i'm leaning a bit towards stanford, but i don't really buy the whole "MIT people are all nerds" i guess I will go to CPW and see how the people really are..

Decision: Accepted! O_O

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2300
[] SAT IIs: 780, 780, 760
[] GPA: 4.25
[] Rank: 1/306
[] Other stats: AP: three 5's and one 4
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Excellent. I spent so much time on them and I love to write anyways, so I think they were a definite advantage on my app.
[] Teacher Recs: Very good. I moved mid-junior year, so i had to get recs from my new teachers, but they were impressed with my adaptation anyways.
[] Counselor Rec: good, i started visiting her during the summer so she would know me better.
[] Hook (if any): heritage: from a little known country
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country:
[] School Type: new public
[] Ethnicity: white/caucasian
[] Gender: F
[/ul]Other Factors:[list]
[] Extracurriculars: not too many, but much commitment and work
[] Why I think I was accepted/deferred: combination of my work throughout high school and the tone i set in my app.
[] Other thoughts: I'm so excited! after many rejects from other top schools i thought all my work throughout high school was useless because i would end up at a state college with other people who put forth MUCH less effort to get to the same place i would be in. I didn't even check Stanford's decision until right before i went to bed and i wasn't very excited, just expected another rejection. what a surprise it was! :)

Rejected, but not surprised and not unhappy about it. shrug

WAITLISTED!!!!!!!!! and never been happier. i was expecting rejection...

even though getting in is super unlikely, i feel validated, and there's still hope!

rejected, nothing surprising

[] Other thoughts: SO ****ING HAPPY! NOW I GET TO CHOOSE B/W STANFORD AND YALE!

Accepted... I think my legacy pushed me over the top but my application was still viable.

It's going to be a tough decision, because I have grown up as a UCLA fan. I have envisioned myself going there for many years and will most likely be in the honors college if I choose to go there. Neither of the two schools are giving me money. I understand that UCLA vs. Stanford sounds crazy to all of you, but I've grown up as a Bruin.

"MIT has cutthroat nerds with top SAT scores and no real talent/social skills"

Well EXCUSE ME! Dude, both schools are really chill. This kinda makes me wonder whether you have been to MIT. Considering its a college town and all, in the middle of Boston....yeah the students will DEFINITELY be sitting in their rooms studying all day long (note the sarcasm). My sister and a couple of my friends went there and they are probably some of the most laid back people you could ever meet. Plus the students there go out to party EVERY weekend and there is some sort of activity/cultural event going on almost every day there. Yeah, I agree with the nerdiness but seriously, if you got into a top college, there HAS to be some sort of nerdiness in you....Please, actually VISIT the school if you are going to make comments about it.....

Hehe, this is kinda ironic since I got accepted to Stanford and deferred/rejected at MIT =P....
