***Official Stanford 2013 SCEA Decisions****

"Her essays also were amazing, and she wrote them herself."

Uhh...isn't the latter half of that sentence sort of self-apparent?

my numbers are mediocre (2300 SATs, 780on bio, 760 on lit, 800 on math, 5s on Calc BC and Spanish Language and Lit) and I'm a white male, but I think I got in because my app was focused. I got my recommendations and then tailored my app to fit what they said my strengths were. e.x. both my teacher recs mentioned how I'm a class clown, so instead of writing about string theory or global warming I wrote about funny ****

It seems like guilt by mentioning. Generally transferring in junior year shows strategically thought move on the part of student/parent/advisors.

Two nasty comments from Parentofivyhope to a parent who was just trying to help students out here on this thread. Unnecessary.

ParentOfIvyHope-

sounds like bitterness to me- (BTW- D NEVER would have characterized herself as an "Ivy Hopeful," in fact she said she was "humbled" to have been accepted.) Furthermore, her transfer was actually a result of her contracting a deadly disease at the beginning of her junior year. It was very sad, actually, and boarding school was the only option which inspired her at the time. It was an incredibly difficult adjustment to move from the school she had attended for years (and in which she had established herself as both a leader and as an academic standout), across the country to a completely new environment.

ParentOfIvyHope and nickwasy-

I happen to know that not all applicants write their own essays. Not only did D do so, she refused any editing help from me, which made me very nervous for her. Apparently, I did not need to worry. My point was that Adcoms apparently can tell the difference in too-polished essays v student written ones.

Thank you curious77.

Damn, four people from my highschool already got in. All white girls and one guy, who didn't have SATs above 2300.

rofl wow.. how did she ^ get rejected. Stanford really destroyed everyone. 5 people from my school applied (these were some of the smartest kids I have seen) and they were all rejected.

REJECTED
nobody from my school got accepted, 2 were differed. one of them is the valedictorian, swim team, and an all around good guy. the other had stats like mine, but hes half black, half eskimo....no lie. and like 6 other amazing people applied from my school. stanford hates my school, only one kid has ever been accepted by them.....oh well

wait, i take that back, my friend is going. he won the cross country nationals, (epic race btw) he deserves it though, running over 90 miles a week

I want to apply RD for Stanford but seeing all of those amazing ppl been deferred/rejected, I dont know what to do anymore!!!
To me everyone has amazing background! it is so hard to judge who is better and who deserves to go to Stanford...so i guess luck plays a huge factor here.

Essay: probably mediocre, about my volunteer experience.

Why did i get my decision on the 12th of december???

Stanford reject here- ACT 34, SAT IIs- math2 800, chem 800, taking Organic chem at University of Wisconsin, 3.98 GPA, really good essays.... yeah
and i really didn't like getting my decision on the 12th- i wasn't prepared at all

Forget about Stanford undergraduate! They are total crapshoot, if you do not belong in of their preferred groups. If you are interested in business since I notice you're a co-owner of a distribution company, try UPenn Wharton, they have much better undergraduate program than Stanford.

deekee is FAKE, guys.

how do u know?

nice one, tyler

i agree with myklondike, he/she said it in very good terms, imo. i think that people will have to talk about AA and things like it eventually because it is starting to become more magnified and more apparent, stanford is just one particular institution that i think uses it. although i agree, this thread should just get back to what it was originally.
