guys! one month from now we’ll all get our stanford rejection letters! are you all excited?!?!

Hahahah @Asuranirosuki of course! My life is incomplete without being rejected by Stanford!

While reviewing my Common App for Stanford, I noticed that my extracurricular paragraph was cut off in the middle. I emailed them and they said there was nothing they could do. Ahh, careless mistakes! >.<

i actually had a lot of fun writing the essays…well, with the exception of the one submitted along with the common app.

really quiet on here, huh? must be the anticipation! :)

Who’s applying to enter as a Sophomore? Junior? I’m told that sophomore transfers will be few if any due to the oversubscription of this year’s freshman class.

I’m applying as a junior. I was wondering about the space allotment–how important are class designations when it comes to that? I wasn’t sure if they lumped the available slots together (of course, there’s probably not a “fixed” number) or if they were dependent on space available in the particular class.

I’m applying as an incoming sophomore. If it’s possible, now I’m even more worried. Not that I’ve ever had a good chance of getting in but I’d like to think that there was a least a chance I could get in given my application and not that I was turned down because they weren’t accepting incoming sophomores. I’ve feared that this might be the case because I knew the current freshman class was over enrolled but I’m just really hoping that incoming sophomores have as an equal chance to get in as incoming juniors (however unlikely that may be).

They accept students based on the classes retention rate. It says on Stanford’s website, all classes have a retention rate of 98%. I’m guessing its going to be equally hard to transfer as a sophomore or a junior.

So where else did everyone apply?

Brown, UChicago, and Pitzer College. After applying, my bank account balance was at about $11 or so. That was not a pleasant few weeks, haha. Where did you apply?

UCLA, Cal, and UCSD. I got into all three. I also applied to USC but haven’t heard anything yet.

Two weeks from today we will be getting our decisions! Slightly nerve-racking!

Those are all good schools! I definitely know the feeling; I applied to Dartmouth, USC, Harvey Mudd, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Yale, and Santa Clara. There might be another one or two but I can’t remember haha. So far I’ve been accepted to Santa Clara and waitlisted at Dartmouth.

Are we for sure getting our decisions back on May 15th? I’m pretty sure we are, I can’t remember if I’ve heard anything official though. I’m extremely nervous too! Stanford has been my dream school as long as I can remember so I’m really hoping for a miracle.

Dartmouth! That’s pretty impressive lol… Yes, may 15th is the official date. They have a transfer timeline on their website and it states it on there. Do you have another top choice other than Stanford?
Stanford’s been my dream school as well! I chickened out my senior year, so I thought now is a better time than any lol…

congrats kin1662 on ucla and cal…me too! it’s amazing how much stress is created waiting for decisions. i won’t be too devastated, i think cal has a lot of great things to offer. :)

We’re totally twinning! lol…Are you heading to Cal for sure if Stanford doesn’t work out? I can’t decide between Cal and LA, they’re both great schools!

i personally would choose cal over ucla…i love the political atmosphere in northern california, not to mention the diversity and the scenery. but yes, they’re both fantastic. :)

That’s true… Are you guys community college students who applied for transfer or four year student trying to switch universities?

Thanks kin1662! Yeah I wasn’t completely sure what was going to happen with my transfer apps because of my really mixed high school and college record. And since I’m a freshman applicant, I wasn’t sure how those were going to interact. So I guess it was really gratifying (and reassuring!) that an elite school considered me a competitive applicant. I wasn’t too concerned that I was waitlisted there because Dartmouth wasn’t one of my top choices so hopefully I can get into one of my top choices.

I applied to Stanford last year (my senior year) and well…lets just say it was really bad. I looked over my application from last year before I submitted my application for this year and it was just embarrassing. I’m not surprised at all that I didn’t get in last time so hopefully it works out this time! I guess my other top choices are probably Cornell (semi-likely), Yale (not likely at all), or Carnegie Mellon (not likely but within the realms of possibility). I guess besides Stanford, I’ll consider any of the schools I get into depending on the financial aid I receive. I guess we’ll see how it goes haha. Do you have an idea yet what you would do if you didn’t get in to Stanford? And ahh that’s soon, just 11 days, I’m so nervous especially with finals coming up!

I’m applying from Colorado State University (a decent but not great state school), how about you? Congrats on UCLA and Berkeley by the way? Those are really impressive schools!

Stanford is my second choice after Harvard. I actually think that I could have a chance at Stanford. I wrote great essays.
