**Official Stanford 2013 Transfer Thread**

Sorry, Pasadena community college

What were the stats for people who got in?

No Stanford doesn’t offer interview to transfer applicants. I didn’t get one.

how can you get a 1875 on SAT? isn’t it possible that you get either 1870 or 1880 but not 1875?

hi guys, congratulation to all who got accepted to Stanford this year!!!
I am an incoming freshman this year in a small LAC in Ohio but I am planning very hard to transfer next year because my school does not have the major that I like. Stanford is my dream dream dream and I really hope that you guys can share some transfer experiences with me!!! Thank you so much!!! <3<3

@ Blue Sparks, yes I am, why?

Because I’m going to Caltech next year, which is right down the street :)

Did any veterans apply in this transfer class?

^^^ Yeah, six of us got in. Me (Army), a Navy SEAL, a Marine, and I haven’t met any of the other three, though I know one of them is an Airman (yolocholo) who posts on CC.

Did you transfer from a 4 year program or a 2 year?

2 year - and I believe most of the vets came from a CC.

Does that reflect a bias towards CC students, or just that most vets attend a CC and then a 4 year? I’m looking at attending a decent 4 year while my wife finishes her degree there and then transferring to Stanford which is my dream school.

Does Stanford transfer a decent amount of credits from another community college though? That’s interesting to know…

I’m in the AF reserves at present and coming from a 4 yr. I don’t think there’s a bias of CC vs. 4 yr. My guess is they take a few academic superstars from peer schools, a few transfer athletes, and a few with compelling stories/veterans.

The transfer class is very small each year. 6 out of a class of 30 or so means that Stanford values military veterans’ service and believes they are a valuable addition to Stanford student community.

There were 5 in last year’s transfer class.

“Among 31 incoming transfer students are five veterans – of the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps – and four international students.”

6 veterans out of 28 transfers this year.

Great to see some CC students made it!

I graduated hs with a 2.8, 16 varsity letters, heavy music involvement, student gov, clubs, others…

Eastern Michigan Univ: 1.6 GPA, ended up dropping out. Eastern was terrible, 3 students were killed. Star football player was killed yesterday. Terrible people, terrible environment. So, I transferred to Univ. of Michigan but not doing so well.

Is this a good idea?–> Take two years off and go the autodidact path. After two years of self study, continue one year at Michigan and take very hard classes, ace them all. Then, apply to Stanford as a transfer. CS major.

So, student does terrible, takes break to find self, then excels greatly. Good plan, or is the autodidact plan frowned upon with admissions?

Wish I can be your next~!
