Official Stanford 2013 Waitlist Discussion

Since there are at least three Stanford waitlist threads floating around, let's just keep the waitlist discussion here. =]

So, tomorrow is May 6... the "earliest" day they could inform us of our waitlist status.

Ah, the suspense...

wait i have a question. what does that mean if you are deciding between colleges that had a deadline may 1?

Are you asking what happens if you get off the waiting list but have already committed?

In that case:

 1. You have committed to a college with May 1 deadline.
 2. You get off the Stanford waiting list (after May 1).
 3. You accept Stanford’s offer.
 4. You withdraw from the first college (and lose deposit, usually).
 5. Proceed as normal.

Anyone know what the turn around time would be for finaid? If offered a spot, I would accept it without hesitation, but enrolling would be contingent upon the finaid decision. Also, in the past, has Stanford sent emails or called the waitlisted? Does everyone on the waitlist receive confirmation of their status at some point after May 6th?

This sort of helps (see post #7):

ya, how does it work with financial aid? and how long will we have to decide?

Anyone heard anything yet?

from what I gather, if you haven’t been contacted you shouldn’t hold your breath. :</p>

I heard back today…but I’m a little confused. They said they were interested, but then when I asked if I could send in one final update, they said no…

Awww, I’m sad. =[

Here is the official university waitlist announcement

[Admission News : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University)

Bottom line: 80 admits, notices late next week (14/15 May). Good luck.

Hey guys I’m just curious why people aren’t extremely, extremely excited right now… Didn’t Stanford not let in 1 student from the waitlist for the last two years? Or am I completely wrong about that? And now we know that they are letting in 80 this year? Isn’t that really lucky for us? No one seems too excited… Just curious!

^ I’m so excited!! I’m just good at hiding it.

Plus my predictions were right, so I feel special :D

ha ha well good  What predictions?

YES, we’re incredibly lucky! If 5% were waitlisted and 1/2 of those stayed on the waitlist then 80 out of like 800 would make a 10% admit rate off the waitlist. That’s still a lot…

I have not heard anything from them. A few people here got contacted through their counselors. I do not have too much hope. I am still going to a good college if Stanford does not accept me.

Check your mail everyone. It is there (I was not accepted).

Me neither =[

I’m on the extended waitlist, I guess…

Extended waitlist as well. :/
