I figured that since the early action applicants have their own thread, and since early action is pretty much over, the rest of us have the right to our own thread :D

I don't even know if regular decision has historically had its own discussion thread. But here it is now.

Have you applied RD yet? If not, how close are you?

Well, good luck for RD Admissions; see if you guys can outspazz the 2014 Stanford SCEArs thread in terms of views and posts (we have about 4800 posts, and 94k views)

I created a Stanford Meebo chat for RD applicants or REA accepted students, or whoever wants to join. The room is Stanford Admits 2014 and the password (to keep the spammers out) is 2014.

Hey guys, just finished up my app a couple days ago, and I’m really not feeling too good about my chances.

My scores are probably middle of the pack for Stanford (1490 SAT / 34 ACT), and to top it off I’m from MN where the average acceptance rate is roughly 3%.

My mom, who works in the college counseling office at our local HS, said she checked the Stanford stats today and that they admitted roughly 750 people through EA. To put that in perspective, there are about 1650 kids in a class at Stanford, so with approximately triple the applications coming in RD, we’ve got our hands full.

Now for my question: is it true that kids from CA can get in with a B+ average? I’ve heard this from several people, and I know how hard it is to get in from places like MN (nobody from my school has been accepted in over 30 years)

I have a couple questions for you. How did you find regional admissions rates? Also, how does your school have access to data that Stanford hasn’t released to the public yet?

To amswer your question, though, a B+ average won’t kill any applicant’s chances, regardless of state.

The regional stats came from a book my mom has in her office, not sure exactly which one, and I suppose the statistics were from 2007, however, I can’t imagine they have changed much.

Hmm… I wonder what the rate is for Oregon? I can imagine it being pretty low, since we’re pretty close to Stanford, but then again, I don’t know a whole lot of super-qualified applicants around here…

Would they really have higher rates in the coasts (I assume you mean CA)?

I always thought states like MN and Oregon would have higher rates, as there aren’t as many applicants to Stanford there as there are in New England, Texas, and California. I thought generally the more populated the state, the more competitive, and the lower acceptance rate (even if they do admit a lot from the over-represented states)

I’m applying…so nervous! And my scores are terrible…the lower end of CCers =[. Hopefully my essays and recommendations will boost my already limited chances.

Yep. Applied early to Yale and deferred.
Now I’m shifting attention to Stanford.
But I also wanna disagree with the stats about MN.
I would think students from there would have a better chance than those from CA (I’m from SoCal by the way).

I’m really nervous because although I have a great resume in almost every aspect, I am on a visa so Stanford isn’t need-blind for non Citizens and non Permanent Residents. And my income is roughly $55,000. =(
