***Official Stanford RD 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread***

For better or worse, Stanford’s official policy is to not waitlist anyone who was deferred. You’ll either get an acceptance or a rejection.

Thank god. I got deferred as well and I was really dreading a wait list. And Newtocollege, since Stanford defers so few, I doubt they have legacy deferral as prevalent as other top schools. Clearly there was something they liked about you!

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Stanford’s been done for a while :open_mouth:

Eep… every day this week I shall be on my toes. I’m subconsciously separating my heart from Stanford to ease the potential heartbreak… but I sub-subconsciously know it’s not working :stuck_out_tongue: Anyway, I’m not expecting much, so it shouldn’t be too bad…

FINGERS CROSSED FOR US

I wish they wouldn’t do the thing with email vs. snail mail… I’m going to be terrified of my inbox. I think I said that already, but I can’t emphasize enough the aversion with which I watch my Gmail load now…

Good luck to you too Jinglebell and Aeropropmaster: In deferment, we…unite? lol.

And thanks Qwerty, that’s actually a relief!

So is everyone figuring they’ll send out emails on Wednesday? Or sooner??

And I’m still confused, does anyone know when the letters are coming?

Don’t know about the letters but my guess is that first we’ll be able to find out the decision via AC Data where it’ll be available on Friday.

They’re usually out before Ivy Day though…

The uncertainty is killing me!

Seriously! Every day now I’m wondering if today’s THE day. Like today. I’m wondering…

yeah, like I said earlier, why can’t Stanford just announce when they’re mailing/releasing? or are they enjoying torturing us?

I really really enjoyed writing my Stanford essays so I feel it’s a little liklier that I’ll get in…but then again it’s a crapshoot! Though I’ve just experienced the post-acceptance delirium consisting of little sleep, lots of sugary food, caffeine, excitement, etc., I have yet to experience the post-rejection dejection. How is it? Will I actually sleep? Will I lose my appetite? haha

Although i have 1%

oneswifm2: I know!!! I’m actually really proud of my Stanford essays… I feel like they were definitely my best, and I was myself in all three of them. I also like the term “post-rejection dejection.”
Maybe we should get some Stanford rejects from previous years to console us that they are successful people…

Does anyone know if Stanford’s normal policy is to just spring a decision email upon it’s applicants, or do they usually notify us in some way shape or form beforehand?

I saw a thread from 2009 with applicants speculating that “today was the day” everyday until April 1, when they were actually released.

Last year, on the other hand, they released their decisions before the Ivies & Duke, which are both releasing their decisions on the 29th.

yeah, like I said earlier, why can’t Stanford just announce when they’re mailing/releasing? or are they enjoying torturing us?

Ermsypermsy, if I recall correctly, Stanford usually makes the announcement and the release on the same day albeit at different times. Though the wait is indeed torturous, at least we can avoid any further waiting between the announcement and release dates! :-)

Haha, oneswifm2, I’m in the same boat as you are. I honestly don’t know how I’ll react to the Stanford decision! Only time will tell.

Again, if I recall correctly, Stanford made an announcement and the admission notifications on the same day during this season’s Early Action round. Unfortunately, I can no longer check Stanford’s official admission news updates (the ones from December have been taken down), but I hope that the EA round is somewhat of an indication for the RD round, assuming that my original hunch is correct.

I hope someone can clarify my speculation.

Tristesse,

so they probably are enjoying it, but then they’ll put us out of our misery  either way, we’ll know soon enough.

Thanks Tristesse, I guess it’s just a waiting game regardless. haha.
