Harambee- you’re applying to all ivies? I’m applying to Princeton and Dartmouth, my 2nd and 3rd choices after stanford, and also duke, Pomona, UChicago and Nortwestern

Princeton, Harvard, UConn, Tulane, USC, maybe Vanderbilt and Penn depending on what happens in December…

almost done with the supplement! actually so excited to submit it… the common app is already in though :)

^ How did that happen? The Common App made me submit the Stanford supplement first before anything…

Hopefully, I won’t have to. But if I’m deferred or not accepted to Stanford REA, I’ll probably apply to most of the Ivies.

Gotcha gotcha. I don’t even know if I’ll apply anywhere else if I’m accepted… :P

I’ll be applying to 20ish colleges if I am deferred/rejected.

If accepted, I might apply to Harvard.

^ Wow o.o Good luck with that…

Why? Harvard is poop, your saying that like its better than Stanford. It’s your college years, do you want to not have fun and learn or have fun and still learn?

Woah woah woah that’s awful negative. I think sarbaraj was just saying that if accepted to Stanford, the only place comparable to even think about also wanting to attend is Harvard. I don’t think a college prevents a person from having fun. I think you can make a conscious decision to enjoy where you’re at or not, no matter where it is. And regardless, saying that students who attend Harvard don’t have fun is kind of an exaggeration. I know two different students there (yes, I know there are many more) who absolutely love it. Just remember, you make your own fun. You’ll enjoy yourself wherever you are if you choose to.

I’m applying REA lol. My chance of making it is probably slim to none, but it’s worth a shot applying to my dream school.

I’m just about done with my app, if I get in, I think the only other school I’d apply to would be USC, just to see if I’ll get any scholarships.

@all

can everybody please refrain from trash-talk posts like #169 ?

Hello people, first of all good to luck to all those applying to Stanford…
but I have a question, I am taking my SAT subjects in November, that means I can send them directly to Stanford for REA right?

^

Please check the website. As of last year, they don’t accept November scores.

^ Exactly. If you feel that you need to submit your subject test scores, you should wait and apply RD instead.

Would it hurt me not to send in SAT II scores? I know that they say I won’t be disadvantaged, but in that case, why would anyone take the subject tests?

Well it gives them a more comprehensive idea of your academic capabilities. However, if your transcript stands strong on its own, go ahead and submit without em!

@BigKev

I think they mean that you won’t be penalized for not submitting the SAT subject test, but if you submit them (and have excellent scores) you will have a certain advantage.

Hey guys. Is the REA an edge at Stanford? Because I think I will be more prepared for RD, but not sure if that will decrease my chances.

Also, for the essays, my first essay was about 300 words while the word count said up to 250 words. However, I was able to fit everything side the 1800 character count. Is that okay?

^

I think 300 might be a bit too much. Try trimming down a few words maybe?

REA… we have discussed that before. Please see the previous pages. :)
