Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

hey trekker5211!!! Of course you can join the party!

yee I love this thread! I’m crossing my fingers until December 15!

Me too! Stanford ftw…the weather isn’t even my main reason for wanting Stanford (although I am from the NORTHeast) lol. The atmosphere …don’t even get me started. I’m so glad Stanford has an scea option (:. How’re your senior years going btw? Mine’s going great, although the pressure is starting…

1 and a half months until the SCEA deadline, and the same amount until we find out their decisions! I’m also applying from the northeast.

Do you guys know if we can update Stanford with new scores? I don’t think my September ACT scores were great, so I was wondering after turning in my app, can I still update them with October ACT scores?

I believe you can send those later scores, neuroscience1234.

I will be applying Early  good luck everyone!

Good luck to you too! Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone on this thread got accepted?

@ neuroscience1234: The 2015ers certainly had that thought too, but obviously it didn’t work out (as evidenced by the results threads). Don’t be discouraged, though - even if Stanford doesn’t end up accepting you, there will definitely be another wonderful school that will!

Hi everybody  I’m glad there’s a thread on this!
I’m considering applying for EA but I’m still unsure. Stanford is my first choice though, so I’d really like to apply EA T_T I’m afraid I’ll be too discouraged if I get rejected, haha. My SAT scores are staggering at around 2100 so I’m trying to get it up to around 2300 by Oct :frowning: If that happens…I’ll apply…if not…what should I do? Any advice? :)

@mochaswirl: SAT scores aren’t everything, but if you do want to raise your score, the best thing you can do is practice! Buy lots of books and just do the sections in your spare time. I raised my score so much by doing that! And prep classes are a total waste of money.

reenysinghasong is completely right. Besides, as crazy as this sounds, it is better to be rejected by Stanford at EA rather than get rejected regular. If you get rejected EA, then you can put all your energy into your other reaches. SAT scores aren’t everything. You will be fine.

hi everyone! I’m also applying to Stanford SCEA/REA but with arts supplement so my common app/arts supplement is due Oct 15 =/ (super early lol). Stanford is clearly my first choice! =D

hi ninmage621! So are you basically done your application? And what kind of arts supplement?

Nah I still have to revise my essays >_>
I’m submitting instrumental music supplement.

I do have a question though - when are you guys submitting your official SAT scores to Stanford? 2 weeks before Nov 1st? How long do those scores take to reach Stanford? (official score reports)

I’m going to submit my SAT scores very early since it does take 2-3 weeks for normal reporting and I don’t want to have any delays. I’m submitting them probably this week since I’ve finished all my testing.

I’m so glad I’m done with the SAT I myself. For those of you who still have to take it, I feel for you.

Anyone completed their app yet?

I actually finished my Stanford supplement a few weeks ago. Now I’m just fine-tuning some of my answers before I hit submit. I also finished a draft of my Common App essay yesterday and will be editing that over the next week or so.

I am not even close! Yikes! I have written like half a dozen possible common app essays, but I am just flailing on these Stanford supplement questions.

just out of curiousity, what major are you guys applying for?
