I submitted my app, supplement, and fees all at once a week ago and on Common App it says they downloaded at least the normal part of the app the next day. However, after that they still haven’t emailed me about how to set up an account on their website to “check the status of my other application materials.” Anyone else have this problem?

My friend sent in app, payment, and supplement ALL on the same day, and they next day it said “downloaded” but he hasn’t received anything to set up an account either.

He sent his stuff in on October 8th.

Best of luck to all of you! It’s been a long time since I’ve used this website, but I just wanted to say hi. I applied early last year. I thought Stanford was my dream school blahblahblah. Here’s a spark notes version of my advice for all of you:

Start your other apps. It’ll get your mind off of Stanford. Assume you’ve already been rejected.

Forget about Stanford after you submit your app.

Try to fall in love with some other schools before December 15th rolls around… convince yourself you’ll be happy anywhere (or at least at three other schools other than S).

DO NOT GO ON THIS WEBSITE… resist the temptation! haha. Honestly, it doesn’t do anything but make you more obsessed with the day decisions come out, which is unhealthy.

I’m home on fall break right now and I miss Penn SO MUCH. I am in seventh heaven there. I could not be happier. My best friend goes to Colgate and is just as happy as I am. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remember you will be happy wherever you end up. The admissions office is good at choosing students that fit the vibe of the school.

If you need moral support anytime during this season, feel free to shoot me a message… high school (especially senior year, first semester) can be pretty bad at times. College is absolutely amazing. I’m having the time of my life and already have many close friends at school.

Once again, good luck.

Wow, even though I just posted a question, I actually completely agree with everything you said! I’ve said the same thing to friends, but i guess I can’t take my own advice haha. I really believe that the admissions can choose those who fit the school probably better than i can, and I like other places too. I rarely go on this website anymore because it just makes me worried.
Thanks, you’ve given one person moral support

Has anyone got their information on how to set up an account, so you can check what materials they have and have not gotten? I submitted my app, payment, and supplements this past weekend.

If you did get an email telling you how to check your materials, how long after submitting the app did you get the email?

Thanks for the advice minnie! I am glad to hear you are loving Penn so much!

minnie, your advice was exactly what I need to hear!! thank you so much :)

On another note, I have submitted all of my stuff and have not received account info either

as a contemporary of minnie’s I totally second everything she says. I still talk to her and the other '15ers pretty much every day. (Ruthannah, we miss you!!!)

I go to Stanford now, and a friend of mine, who works in the Admissions office here, says that 90% of the phone calls are from anxious parents and people tend to mock them. So call in person guys :)

And feel free to talk to me if you want!

Do they track phone calls?!? Because I really have no reason to call them.

Hey guys, I am also apply SCEA to Stanford. That Nov. 1st deadline is sneaking up faster than I would like…

Sent in my application yesterday! I put on “They Might Be Giants” as I checked everything over, and then put on “Holiday” by Vampire Weekend after I finished.
:-)

Applying today!

To follow up I received an email from Stanford today before I even called them

I received 2 emails from them today!!!

59 days you guys! it’s getting real :D

Gah. Still revising my last two Stanford supplement essays before finally submitting everything. I’m just ready to be done with all of this.

Got my email from Stanford almost exactly a week after clicking submit.

WHEW! I just got my SAT scores back and rose from a 2050 to a 2230. So happy. I am thinking this will help out A TON!!!

My S just sent in his EA application…he loves Stanford but realizes that admissions is a game of chance …he’s got 2340 SAT, 800 Math2/ 800 World and 760 Chem He is 1/450 in his class, IB diploma candidate, AP scholar with distinction, Natl Merit Semifinalist and great ECs…but its still a crap shoot…Stanford and a number of other schools said that EA and RD accept the same kids…you have athletes in EA plus the top kids who know what they want…but this year Harvard re-entered the fray…looks like an exciting year of highs and lows…hope all of you make time to enjoy your senior year…it goes quickly and there is so much to enjoy now that you are at the top of your high school game!

dapotatoman: That’s Great!
