Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

@avtrox HAHAHA. So accurate.

And the only tv series I’ve had time to keep up with this year have been Big Bang Theory and Happy Endings.

@ytiabudhabi:
Haha, yea, UAE’s not bad. I don’t really want to give away the school name, 'coz it’ll be easy for unis to spot me. But my course load is Physics, Math, Chem HLs and Business and English Spanish Ab Initio as my SLs.

Got my mocks in Jan too, can’t focus x_x.

Haha you’re American xD a lot easier getting in somewhere there :P. Asian here xD

So, people, to reduce the tension and to make the decisions easier on us…what are your other dream schools? (pretty sure this has been asked, bringing it back up as it helps me calm down xP)

Duke and UChicago.

And, I just got a call from a Duke alum asking for an interview.

@avtrox Yeah haha their players are extremely good. Like ranked #1 on college recruiting good. But If I get in I’ll be glad that I’m going to a school where the tennis team is good so I can watch haha. And I’ll most likely try to play club or intramural tennis.

Tufts and Brown. I actually am more certain of a Tufts rejection than a Stanford one, if that makes any sense.

We need to refresh: what is the first sentence of the rejection letter? Here it is: “It is with regret”

The deferral? I want to be prepared for seeing those first words…

@NewToCollege

Deferral: “After careful consideration and a thorough evaluation of your candidacy, we have chosen to defer your application for further review in our Regular Decision process.”

@ifgodwills

Brown, Cornell, UPenn

hopefully the Stanford admissions officers are reading this thread and know that if they don’t release them on the 9th, people are gonna go crazy! lol

That would be great, Thousandmiles, but there are only twenty-something of us, compared to 5500 applicants. We prob don’t have much influence, but I hope they feel our enthusiasm :wink: I am really dreading seeing “It is with regret…” I think if I see the word “It,” I’m just going to close the email.

Oh, by the way: is the decision in the email, or is there a link to the decision?

I totally agree if I don’t see “congratulations” after reading the first 5 words, I’m deleting it. Well maybe I wont be that harsh but at least, I wont look at it for a while.

So darn nervous about this… I was fine up until my friends started worrying about their Columbia applications, since I had sent my application in on October 13th because I had an arts supplement. Oh, this wait is killing me!

@tsukiyami: haha, I would totally listen to Ugly if I got rejected. Or a really sad Korean ballad that I wouldn’t understand.

I’ll read the whole message through, unless it contains “congratulations,” in which I’ll probably throw down my laptop, scream, cry, and run around like a madman. If not, ehh I’m glad I submitted my other apps already (RD)!

My other top schools are (in order of pref.) UPenn, Yale, Harvard, Columbia, MIT.
Though Stanford is by far #1! and has been for the longest time ;)

Congratulations, you’re really qualified! However, you are rejected. Have a nice day.

Hahahahahha^

I’ll probably read the whole thing…several times…call me a masochist if you will

I’ll read the first line, start crying (regardless of what it says) and have to come back later to read the rest. Too bad I’ll be in AP English when this happens…

Just fyi, I ignored homework to review last year’s SCEA thread and, though there were mucho rejections, if you look at where kids ended up in college–Ivies, Duke, USC, WUSL etc etc., you can see that we really will end up in ok places.

Is there anyone who really thinks they’ll be SHOCKED (vs. bummed) if they don’t get in, because they really think they have a high percentage chance?

not ME! I’m hoping my arts hook impressed someone. That’s my only chance.

Just made it through the initial rounds of a scholarship I’m applying for. Time for interviews, wish me luck! :D

Good luck Rush10!!

Oh no!!! Just saw that in 2006, decisions were released on December 15th, however it was a Friday… I’m going to look for the date of the 2005 release.

Best of luck Rush10!
