** Official Stanford SCEA Countdown Thread**

i hate having to wait 3-6 more days than everyone else. this is so miserable

Olive, I think it's 3PM PST, so that should be 6PM EST.

"i hate having to wait 3-6 more days than everyone else. this is so miserable"

AMEN.

Ludicolo- So you live in the Mission Viejo-ish area?
There are quite a few Orange County people here!!!

Yeah, I basically never go to the beach because it's too crowded...there are too many tourists now. There is one quiet beach that is about 10 minutes from my house but I never have the time to go there. I might go there this weekend to relax before MONDAY! AHHH!!!!!!

^^ True that! If we all get in, we OC-ers can throw a lil beach bash :D
(KNOCK ON WOOD.)

Sounds good!!! (:
Bleh...I'm tired of this warm weather. I want it to feel like winter here!!!

I'm procrastinating.
YAY
YAY
YAY

oh manzagal, how i envy you.
it's freezing in MA and it snowed on monday(although it was a balmy, uncharacteristic 60 degrees today).
let's trade climates, okay? :)

Yeah, we've got a foot of snow in my area. Not so wonderful... Especially considering we didn't even get a snow day for it. I'd love to see a few palm trees right about now!

Once you trudge out to your car through the slush, shovel a path out of the driveway, go to school at 15 mph so you don't crash, try to park in a parking lot where all of the lines are covered in snow, and sit in a building with very little heat on for a few weeks, you learn to appreciate the warm weather.

Chicago in winter=Bleh.

It snowed in Houston today... it was a fun surprise.

Hey guys,
cripes just a couple more days. I'll pray for all of you tonight. Here's some stories and advice that are kind of uplifting in the meantime:

--A YA author/Columbia alumnus wrote about her college admissions experience on her blog once. This was when the SAT was still out of 1600. She got a perfect 800 on her verbal but only a 300 on her math. She retook it many times and eventually managed a 500...and she got into Columbia! So scores aren't everything =)
--My friend, who is Class of 2012, says for SATs they look at 2250+ all the same
--He also says Stanford really takes into account the holistic portion of the application. I am sure y'all let your character and amazingness shine through--so don't worry your GPA and SATs to pieces =)
--My cousin got into Northwestern and his SAT crit reading was somewhere way below their usual acceptance rate
--My guidance counselor says that everything is really a crapshoot. Dartmouth adcoms told him that they might have six apps in front of them one day, all equally qualified students, and they'll pick one out of six to admit. But then the next day, they might have the same six apps and then go on and pick another student. At some point, it is probably akin to pinning people's papers on the wall, shooting darts, and seeing which lucky paper gets hit. It's the system, not you

On another note, does anyone else here ever feel like Murphy's Law's b****? Whenever I think I did crappy (sincerely, too), I do well or okay, and whenever I did alright or think that I will do alright, I bomb. I am trying to get anxious for Stanford, which I haven't been able to do sincerely for the past few weeks, because I feel like Murphy's Law is going to bite me in the ass. I can sort of feel the first tendrils now that it's getting closer though, lol

Also, did anyone else apply to S because of their international relations department? ;)

edit:
weather over here: rainy. mad warm. super cold on monday though.

I really hope that SAT scores count for what the adcoms say they do, not what students in general hope they do.

Baelor, me too.

Oh, do the adcoms address SATs specifically in some way? I've only just been presented with the statistics list.

SAT scores are the great equalizer, they put your academic performance into perspective. My GPA is low for stanford, my SAT scores are high for any school, so I'm hoping they count for a lot.

Yeah, I am in a similar position, Gimme. My GPA is low for Stanford, but, for my school, my SAT is off the charts. Though, I must add, it is probably very average for Stanford...

I want it to snow here!!! Obviously, it won't.
I'm just glad that I never spend winter break in So. Cal. That would be super depressing because it's always so sunny here.
Mwahaha I get to escape the heat for 2 weeks (:

does anyone else here thoroughly hate lou dobbs?

It's funny, until seeing this site, I thought I was the only one who was sort of freaking out. But i'm not anymore, cuz i'm prolly not getting in so it's all good. Good to know i have some company in the fretting department.

i wish i could just go to sleep and wake up monday afternoon
then i wouldn't have to stress
