Honestly, after looking at how much harsher they were on early action people, my guess is they thought they would be able to admit much fewer people than they actually were able to and then had to backtrack and admit more (including deferrals such as myself!).

General Comments:

Now the Stanford-Duke decision begins.

S was waitlisted and we are in shock (the good kind) because no one is ever accepted from his Southeastern US school.

Basic stats: 2280 SAT, 34 ACT, 3.89, Cauc., no hooks, good leadership, earnest but short essays, teacher recs were described as “love letters,” 6 APS with average of 5.

S really expected to be rejected and is simply thrilled to be on Stanford’s waiting list. Congrats to those accepted and cheers to everyone – I know you will all end up in a terrific place.

So its ok I checked Stanzford last after all the Ivys and I got into all the Ivys I applied to (didnt apply to Brown or Columbia) so Stanford was an interesting combo breaker
