Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Common app essay was good; Additional information section was useful as opposed to throwaway; same goes for optional update
[] Weaknesses: 3 Stanford specific essays generic, 2/3 official recommendations were mediocre
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:[/ul]
[/li]

Honestly, after looking at how much harsher they were on early action people, my guess is they thought they would be able to admit much fewer people than they actually were able to and then had to backtrack and admit more (including deferrals such as myself!).

General Comments:

Now the Stanford-Duke decision begins.

S was waitlisted and we are in shock (the good kind) because no one is ever accepted from his Southeastern US school.

Basic stats: 2280 SAT, 34 ACT, 3.89, Cauc., no hooks, good leadership, earnest but short essays, teacher recs were described as “love letters,” 6 APS with average of 5.

S really expected to be rejected and is simply thrilled to be on Stanford’s waiting list. Congrats to those accepted and cheers to everyone – I know you will all end up in a terrific place.
