Writing (Rate Quality on 1-10 Scale; 10 as Best):[ul]
[] Essays (Include Subjects):[list]
[li] Common App Main: Wrote about Tesla as the historical figure influence, I thought it described me well, but might have been too scholarly and not personal enough. Perhaps a 7? [] Other:[/ul]
[] Teacher Recommendation #1: Excellent, the teacher knew me in and out of class

Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Good academically, good recs, I’m really committed to my ECs and have evidence of leadership. Strong passion in science, idk if I got that out properly in my essays, but for sure it should’ve been seen in my ECs, recs, and interview.
[] Weaknesses: No sports, no instrument, a little too academic probably.
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: No hook, not even anything interesting like sports or an instrument. My essays probably were a little too serious.
[] What would you have done differently?: Made myself sound more interesting, put my number of hours on their… honestly, I don’t think there’s much - I put myself on the application, I can’t change who I am and I guess I just wasn’t what Stanford is looking for this year. Which is fine, because better people than me are rejected, and everyone who made it in really deserves it! Congrats guys![/ul]

[] Date Submitted App: 09/30/09 and 11/02/09 (admissions received 12/01/09 @ 3:11 pm EST - yes I remember it vividly!)

Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: My essays were very strong. The same goes for my background. I’ve achieved a lot considering the circumstances, and Stanford knew that. Stanford cares about intellectual vitality, and I think I illustrated that by letting them know I choose to pay for school than to go to a bad school.
[] Weaknesses: My Subject Test scores were dismal, comparatively speaking. My recommendations probably weren’t vivid.
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: My application was a package.
[] What would you have done differently?:[/ul] I can’t imagine doing anything differently; maybe one of my QuestBridge essays but Stanford doesn’t really read those. Even if I had been rejected, my application represented who I am. Parts of my application were so personal my mom hasn’t even been allowed to read them. If Stanford didn’t want me, it would have been okay, because I would have known I wasn’t right for the school.
