OFFICIAL thread Acceptance/Rejections

I'm buddhist..and I'm pretty sure I'm going to pepperdine. but i'm not very religious either.. don't know if it's gonna be difficult to adjust.

no preferential treatment for regent scholars...all the same, except for scholarship and no honors program at pepperdine

I got the dean's scholarship - 17,000 per year, so I'll be going to Pepperdine next year.

hey good job! what were your stats?

Thanks!
2170 SAT/ 3.85 GPA

wow nice. mine were 1910 SAT/ 3.86 GPA... but i was hoping to get a Tuition Exchange scholarship, and i just learned that I wasn't chosen, so i guess im not goin to Pepperdine next year. Good luck to all you future Waves!

GPA: 3.08

i know my stats are horrible....but i guess theres more to me than just academics. personally, i think my ec's were great: starter on nationally ranked football team, asb, diversity committee, a lot of church service/other volunteer stuff. and my essay was pretty unique, so i guess that makes up for the 3.0 gpa and the 1800 sat.

Yeah, that happened to me also (not at Pepp though). I think college admissions can be a crap shoot (or be due to deliberate yield boosting). Good luck at Wharton!

From what I've seen here it looks like Pepperdine is even more selective than what I have heard before. What do you guys think of my stats, do you think I will get accepted?

I tend to say yes I think you will get accepted since your stats are very similar to my D's. However it is tough to understand Pepperdine's acceptance criteria. I have seen some kids with better stats not accepted? I personally think the essays are very important to the Pepperdine acceptance committee.

Good luck!

I agree with Pepperdad, it is hard to tell from stats, I think they really look at essays. I think recommendations are really important from teachers that know you academically and beyond. I know for my D and others she has chatted with, that pastor recommendations were instrumental.

Thanks, I appreciate it!
