OFFICIAL THREAD: Financial Aid Offers

University Park financial aid offers start coming in the mail mid march. Im curious to see what others get on this forum. Heres how it's gonna work if you would be kind of enough to participate.
COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR OFFER FOR FINANCIAL AID

Date you filled out and submitted your FAFSA form

Salary of [both] parents; gross income

Other siblings in college? Family size? Student assets? Parent assets?

Financial Aid Offer: Grants, Work Study, Scholarship, Loans

Thanks so much if you can fill this out upon receiving your offer.

Has anyone gotten anything about financial aid? I submitted my FAFSA like January 20th.

Incoming freshmen generally hear about financial aid in mid to late March, so you should be hearing something within the next few weeks.

do they tend to be generous with financial aid?

^^^^ haha no.

besides being ranked #1 party school, we were ranked #2 for ‘students dissatisfied with financial aid’

Penn state can be generous if you…

a) have a stellar HS GPA (weighted greater than 4.0)
b) poor financial situation at home (ie EFC near 0)
c) both a and b.

the $ gets better once you declare your major and enter you individual colleges/depts. Being in the SHC also increases your chances for $ in addition to your guaranteed academic $.

unless I get some amazing financial aid package penn state is going to have to come off my list :(

I checked elion ,EFC is 3600, received 1900 pell grant,750 ACG and nothing else, terrible terrible aid

If you are in-state you should be eligible for the PHEAA grant. If not, their are loans etc to help meet the difference.

lmfaooooooooo, for aid theyre givin me $6300 a year XD thats funny being that my efc was 0 . penn state idk any nicer way to say it than go sk a dk =D

yeah, its unbelievable and i am OS.The strange thing is that my aid summary did not include any federal loans(subsidized and unsubsidized). Is that normal?

Where did you guys find the financial aid info? I am confused. Thanks.

go to elion.psu.edu ,select students and enter your info, then when you log in select your student aid summary .It should say something like they have received your fafsa and at the bottom of that theres link named continue.Press that and there it is!

I sent mine in 2/8/10 and it says they recieved it 3/8/10. It doesn’t show a summary yet.

Nothing yet here, either. Hey, did you see the estimated cost for next year?!

$29,644

yeah and thats just in-state. I can’t imagine what the out of state is. Nothing available yet for me either.

if i log in to elion does that automatically say that i accept the offer of admission? - it says i have a user account update and i don’t want to update it if it accepts the offer - i just want to see my financial aid award.

it says it my friends of pennstate account… im not sure what that means?

They are only giving me $6000 in aid…and the total estimated cost is like $42000(OOS). can you say ridiculous!!!

JShorter815: i am OOS also. what was your EFC?

I am OOS and I am getting $6600. My report also didn’t say anything about the federal sub and unsub loans. Oh and my EFC was $600
