***Official Thread for 2014 BSMD applicants***

yeah, i received my undergrad acceptance in september (: i called the admissions office this morning and the person who answered told me that my particular application will be reviewed this week for GAP and they’ll decide whetheror not to send me the GAP info request^^

when do BU interviews come out?

@lari123, last year it came out at the end of December and early January.

lari - it can go on till Feb 10. 6 batches are interviewed. It is a slow process for BU notifications

So… who else has been stalking college confidential to see who’s been getting interviews where and when?

@Greensage
Good Luck to you… :)

@lari123 Interviews for BU SMED will start Jan 21st and end Feb 21st, with one date per week. The tell you on a rolling basis, so you may here as early as mid-late Dec and as late as mid-late Jan.

@MedicalBoy Also got Pitt Honors program, no info on med program yet.
@thejerseygirl yeah I got an email confirmation. Anyone else?
@lari123 haha I’m guilty :p

This waiting process is so tedious! Already anxious to hear back from all these schools, and it’s only December…

Is anyone else applying to the VCU program this year?

Yes, I did. Got into undergrad. No news about honors program yet.

drexel has bad md with several undergrads. rosemont/drexel drexel/drexel villanova/drexel lehigh/drexel. Do they have separate seats alloted. Do you separate drexel med interviews one for each if you are qualified? I know siena/albany and union/albany have separate seat allocation for example.

I was just notified yesterday that I was accepted to the honors program too so I think they’re going out now :slight_smile:
I’m assuming acceptance to the honors portion automatically means your app gets forwarded to the med school? Since they didn’t mention anything else specifically.

any stats on Duquesne/temple accepted statistics?

The AAMC Web-site gives numbers as per each program…my understanding is Drexel/Drexel(25-30), Villanova/Drexel(12-15), Lehigh/Drexel(1-3) and that there is only ONE interview. The Drexel supplement specifically asks for which of the undergrad feed schools are you applying:

Drexel University College of Medicine:
Drexel University BS/MD Monmouth University Scholars Rosemont College Early Assurance
Grove City College Scholars Muhlenberg College Scholars Ursinus College Early Assurance Program
Kean University Scholars Robert Morris University Scholars Villanova University BS/MD
Lehigh University BS/MD Rosemont College BS/MD West Chester Early Assurance

Is anyone applying to Northwestern? For the program, they have you answer these three questions with a two page total limit:

  1. Explain the factors that are driving you towards a career in medicine.
  2. Why do you think being part of a BA/MD program is the best path for you?
  3. Write about a time when your friends saw a situation or problem one way, but you saw it differently. How did you handle that?
    I answered the first and the last, and they already take up 1.75 pages. The second is kind of answered with the first question, and I really don’t have that much to say for it. Do you think I could make the second one really short, or should they all be the same length? Really struggling here…

^
Ooh the HPME essay questions are the same as the ones from last year. As long as you can fully express the ideas that you want, it won’t make a difference at all. To quote that old adage, “Quality over quantity”, lol. Using this method garnered me an interview invite there.

Good luck!

Just received acceptance to the NJIT Honors College! Is it safe to assume acceptance to the UG college as well? (they haven’t sent me anything yet, which i find a bit weird but the honors college letter said that we may have already gotten it or will be getting it in the near future). Also, this doesn’t imply anything about the medical program, does it?

Nice!!! Congrats!! I got both acceptances on the same day, so the actual ug acceptance letter is probably coming soon! And no, it means nothing about the med program. Congrats again!! :)

My D received an invitation email to GAP in Univ of Pittsburgh. Do you have any tips in GAP application ?

Dad2013, Congrats.

When did your D receive her acceptance letter to undergrad and honors college?
