I got a reply too but for someone else.

We get replied this early?? I haven’t heard anything from NJIT at all. Not even about the undergrad portion.

Any tips for the NJIT honors college interviews/undergraduate college interviews in general? Have mine on Monday. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum, just read it over. BU’s SMED program deadline is this Friday, and I’m still cranking out those essays… woohoo for procrastination. Anyone else applying? I heard that we’ll start getting notifications about interviews in mid-December all the way until almost March.

@FrozenShardz I don’t know if this is late, and I don’t know much about the NJIT specifically, but I guess for every interview you should know a bit about current events, why you want to go to the school, your strengths/weaknesses, and be able to talk about your extracurriculars really well. It wouldn’t hurt to mention your interest in medicine. General interview tips apply: wear something business-appropriate, a pencil skirt or slacks with a nice blouse/sweater/suit jacket and comfortable shoes should do it!

I received the NJIT interview notification 4 days ago and replied with my preferred interview dates on the same day, but I still haven’t received a response. Should I resend my email?

I got an interview email just today from NJIT and it had the date and time and everything in there for me. You guys were supposed to respond it to? My email doesn’t ask for a response anywhere, it says the interview is scheduled…

Also, how was the interview for those of you who had it already? Mine’s in early december.

My interview is on Monday for NJIT! Anyone going?

Just got letter of admission for the undergrad portion of NJIT, so they have definitely started replying.

@thejerseygirl Yeah, I responded to the interview notification email. It said to send it to some other email, but since it came back with an “out of office” automated response, I replied to the email that sent the notification and they replied to me within a day.

Has anyone had an interview with NJIT yet? How did it go?

My interview is a couple weeks from now. Still haven’t gotten anything about the UG, but the letters should be arriving soon.

@starlight27, what are you supposed to reply to the email with exactly? I only got the notification email about my scheduled interview and what room to go to.

@GreenSage: Mine let me choose a date and time. Guess you don’t have to do anything!! Good luck :D

I guess so! It said it was a confirmation email. And thanks, Good luck to you too! When do you have yours?

I have mine on Monday, November 25th. You?

Good luck! Mine is on Tuesday December 3rd.

Good luck everyone who is going for the NJIT interview. Does NJIT not offer Skype interview? My son has been luck and so far has had Skype interviews for the UG admission for the BS/MD programs he has applied to. This definitely saves a lot of expenses and also time, but of course, without the opportunity to visit the campus. Probably this can be done if he is invited for interviews for the MD part of the program, as we did with Gannon/LECOM BS/DO program. We visited Gannon only the day before he went for his LECOM interview.

I think you have to do the interviews in person, but you can definitely ask them. I personally prefer talking to people in person rather than over skype though I agree it saves time. Also, it’s usually the first time I’m seeing these campuses for most of them. Have you personally visited the med schools, though? I mean I would want to see them/the facilities in person.

@GreenSage, I agree that nothing can replace interview in person. However, one has to be realistic if one has applied to more than 10 programs and the interviews are just for the UG portion of the programs. You might end up going for 10-15 interviews in total and this is not only very expensive and time-consuming (especially we are from Texas), but also disruptive to school work (remembering that some colleges are still waiting for your midterm School Report to incorporate into their decision making process). For example, my son has applied to 16 programs (14 BS/MD and 2 BS/DO) and of the 16, only 4 are in the South. Taking a trip to the North will take up to two to three days each time!

For medical school interviews, you should definitely go in person, even if it allows Skype interview. Last year, I had to take my daughter all the way to Oxford in England and St Andrew’s in Scotland on two separate occasions for in person interviews, even though St Andrew’s offered that she could have Skype interview if she wanted to. She was offered at St Andrew’s but not at Oxford but the Oxford interviews really gave her important insight into the rigor of medical school interviews before her interview in med schools in this country. Helpful but expensive!

Yes you’re completely right. And wow that must definitely be rough having to come over to the new England area from that far just for an interview… at least for the NJMS and Drexel programs, you only have to interview once with the med school regardless of how many UG schools you’re applying through :)

@IMGDAD In the email NJIT sent me, they had an option for phone interviews on Monday, Nov 25th at 1:30pm. Maybe email them at sessoms@njit.edu to see if they still have that slot open?

I’m getting more and more nervous! Good luck to everyone who has interviews this week!
