***Official Thread for 2015 BSMD applicants***

Congratulations to all of the SPiMsters of 2019/23! I am gathering all of us into a facebook group I just created called UConn Special Program in Medicine (SPiM). Please join the group to meet more of us!

Congrats! to everyone who made it to UCONN’s SPIM of 2019/23!.. that’s excellent news.

Received UCONN SpiM letter today as well :slight_smile: (I am out of state)

SLU program seems kind of iffy to me, but if it’s the only program I were accepted into, I would definitely take it. And @in2llect‌ I think I met you at my interview on Monday (maybe).

This might be a BSMD thread, but
shout out to everyone who was accepted into MIT on pi day of the century!!

Did any one get into Brooklyn BA/MD Program with SUNY Downstate ?

@Me4college @aus123 Thank you for the congratulatory posts. Yes, it is a great weekend for our family :slight_smile:

One follow up question on SLU Med Scholars. We never filed CSS since we could not find its SLU CSS code or any SLU instructions to file CSS. Given the # of colleges doing too many things, we kind of lost in the process. Now since this is only BS/MD route, we are now looking it bit closer. Hope we did not miss anything big here. However we filed the FAFSA to SLU. Can any of the SLU Med Scholars confirm?

I just got wait listed at CWRU? WTH? I got 2 BSMD interviews this year and I thought that I would be a good candidate for the undergraduate portion of Case western after I got rejected from the PPSP. But I guess not. I was actually kind of interested in the undergraduate college even though I was rejected from PPSP. This is weird.

@Jmarkel‌ - the same thing happened to many of us last year too, that’s why I suggested for people interested in the undergraduate college without the combined program to let the admission director know, otherwise they think you won’t attend so won’t “waste” a place on you (makes their stats look bad to have low proportion of enrolled over admitted). See my post 1927 in this thread.

If you are interested, accept the wait list and send an email to the admission director. Good luck!

@SLCMom‌ thanks so much to for the repose it gave me some relief. Ahh if only I discovered this thread a lot earlier then I would’ve known about your post. But I’ll definitely email the admissions director about this if that’s the case. I was concerned at first that I wouldn’t stand a chance at other colleges I was interested in (tufts, rice, emory etc. ) if I got wait listed at CWRU. Based on your experience, did your child get into a program or one of his top colleges after the wait list at CWRU?

Been a while, just got caught up; nice to hear of all the good news! Congrats to everyone!

@GoodDoctor and @kpdmom, thanks for the nice notes! Congrats again.

For those still awaiting good news - hang in there. That is true even for those who are “done” with the combined programs. While I am very sorry for your disappointment, remember how much you have accomplished and be proud of yourselves. And you will get good news from the excellent colleges that will accept you. If you want to be a doctor, I have no doubt you will get there one way or another. Think of this experience as a practice for the medical school application. And if you later change your mind and decide to do something else, it will still be an interesting memory, and again I have no doubt you will be outstanding members of society.

In case you are thinking “easy for you to say; your child got in one”, I’d share that we were so sure she had no chance after her interviews and early rejections we made arrangements to visit the undergraduate programs to help her pick the best college for her interests and personality, and ended up having to pay a forfeit to one school as well as the airline. So I truly do understand and sympathize. In life, many things will take more than one try, think of this as the opening salvo not the outcome of the war. As her tennis coach said, once a stroke has been made, move on to focus on the next. I wish everyone all the best!

Yea i got waitlisted at case too! ;/ its ok tho.

Yeap. My S is also wait listed in CWRU!!! Either way we do not have plans to attend UG there unless it is BS/MD. So it is OK. At present we already have UNC in our pocket as our safety for UG.

@Jmarkel‌ - yes, my daughter was also wait listed at Case Western but was admitted to Rice. She didn’t apply to Tufts or Emory. I don’t think you should panic yet! :slight_smile: Best of luck!

When do Rice regular decision admission results come out?

@SLCMom‌ @Jmarkel‌ @chihuahua1‌ @parentsof2‌
I got wait-listed at CASE TOO
Universities like case dont like wanna accept nor reject because ppl like us r overqualified thus we might not go there

@GoodDoctor‌ They will be out by April 1st but last year I’m pretty sure they came out March 24th

@BSMDorBust Thank you.

any word yet on Drexel/Drexel or villanova/Drexel?

waiting on Villanova/Drexel eagerly
last chance for BS/MD, but also my favorite program. I REALLY want to go there. Hopefully Drexel doesn’t keep us waiting much longer
