@in2llect Dec. 9 as well for both received and processed :)

@shyamalee yep I got that about 3 weeks ago…it could be that they’re reviewing apps in batches

@in2llect yes! Did you complete/submit both the general and supplemental applications to UMKC by the Oct. 15 deadline?

My son’s email is exactly the same as yours. I agree, may be they are reviewing the apps in batches.

I might have asked this question before, but has anyone considered applying/ already applied to Howard University’s 6 year BS/MD program?

@shyamalee I haven’t yet, but I’m planning to.

People applying to PSU/Jefferson: do you guys have a message on your app portal saying that “they’re contacting Jefferson about your candidacy, will hear about interview, etc.” too?

Well, congrats @in2llect . My son’s portal message did not change at all.

@in2llect , when did you submit your Penn/Jerfferson application ?

@Dildil thanks - don’t remember exactly, but probably around 3 weeks ago. They could be doing this in batches as well.

@in2llect, congrats! My D’s mypennstate status did not change

@in2llect ayyy my portal changed to that too! I haven’t received an email about interviews yet though. Was this an actual cut or do most people receive the interview?

Hi everyone,
I’m a recent graduate of Sophie Davis in NY and would like to give anyone who is interested some advice.
Unfortunately, you have to be a NY resident to apply to SD, but I absolutely think if your stats are on the lower side but you’re a minority who shows a STRONG commitment to medicine/primary care…YOU HAVE A VERY GOOD CHANCE OF GETTING AN INTERVIEW.

In your essays, stress your passion for primary care/community medicine/helping the underserved. I personally know of MANY students with low stats who show a somewhat genuine commitment (volunteering, shadowing, leadership, etc.) and have gotten to the interview stage. I even volunteered to interview students when I was a third year, so I have seen first hand that low stats do not keep you out of the interview stage. The program is also not as extremely competitive as other accelerated programs, so definitely submit your application. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

SUMMARY:
IF YOU ARE A NYC MINORITY AND ABSOLUTELY WANT TO DO MEDICINE- APPLY TO THE SOPHIE DAVIS PROGRAM. WITH DECENT STATS, YOU CAN ATTAIN AT LEAST AN INTERVIEW. WORK HARD ON ESSAYS AND LOOK FOR GREAT MENTORS TO CALL IN/EMAIL TO VOUCH FOR YOU!

@mangoes9 what are your stats?
