@secondchance97 My sympathies. That’s awful, and I hope that they apologized to your son for misleading him!
Would you guys choose a bs/md program over undergrad at schools like Wash U, Northwestern, Duke, etc?
Some wouldnt if we got in Duke or Northwestern.
I would rather choose a program. Those schools are great but at the end of the day making it to med school is wat counts
We got into case PPSP…so happy for it
@numnums I think a BS/MD is definitely better. At one BS/MD interview for a very good medical school, I interviewed with a medical student who went to UPenn for their undergrad. She went through the regular route and ended up in the same place as students who were in the BS/MD. Going to Duke, Northwestern, or an Ivy for undergrad doesn’t guarantee that one will get into a good medical school.
@rajmad CONGRATULATIONS!! That’s an amazing program!
@numnums It depends on which BS/MD programs you get in. I would not go to UMKC BA/MD program. I would go to a better UG school for sure.
Accepted to Union/AMC!
@doc2022 BS/MDs aren’t with particularly bad med schools if you’re trying to insinuate that though…
@noteword When were you interviewed and when did you receive the results for Union/AMC?
Four years ago TCNJ offered half scholarships for the program while Rutger honors gave a full ride.
Gigantor If you can swing the UG tuition, I would choose Brown since they give some of the best Med School tuition scholarships and you only take 30 credits a year instead of 33 like Yale each year as an undergraduate. Further not having the stress of interviewing with 20 medical schools is a big stress eliminator. My D had a hard enough time keeping a 4.0 without flying all over the country for MS interviews and studing for the MCATs
@Gigantor @Raycmr Just a heads up, for Med School scholarships at Brown you have to take the MCAT, regardless if you are in PLME or not.
@mdiqbal71 I did! Did anyone else?
Hey everyone! I’m new to this and just wondering if anyone got into the Brooklyn College/SUNY Downstate BA/MD. I plan on going in the fall and was just hoping to find others
@TayC115 i got into but i dont really know a lot about it… do you know more deets about the program/why you chose it over others??
@1Med0119 to be honest with you it was the only program I got into, but it was still my first choice. Did you apply to Macaulay Honors at Brooklyn College? That’s a big reason I’m going because of all the opportunities it offers (full tuition/study abroad/laptop)! But a big thing just with the program that I love is the freedom to do what I want in undergrad. I want to be a doctor but I don’t want to major in biology or chem or biochem lol that’s what med school is for. I plan on majoring in mathematics. Also I don’t thing maintaining a 3.5 gpa is too much to ask. I’ve spoken to kids who are currently in the program and they say that all the BA/MD kids aren’t isolated from everyone else but they still get to form a bond like a small support group in a big college which I love. One of my more personal reasons is that I’m from NYC and it’s home! I was actually on campus yesterday and love how it’s a campus within the city so you get the best of both worlds. Hope this helps!
How does one rate TCNJ, Rutgers-Newark and NJIT 7 year BA/MD programs? Which one is better?
