Heads up to y’all: The NW HPME application essays have a combined word limit of 1000 (I didn’t see that until after I’d finished all 3 and was about to submit - thank god I caught that). I guess instructions ARE important :P

All, how is everyone filling in the gpa value for NorthWestern HPME application, if the school does not compute a GPA. We are not able to enter 'NA" also. Did anyone call Northwestern regarding this.

Thanks in advance.

@bsmdcan I would send an email to HPME regarding your issue. I had a problem with my app too, emailed them about it, and received a response within the hour, which is incredible considering that it’s the holidays season right now!

Thank you. Got a response from HPME.

To anyone wondering about BU-

I emailed them the other day about the whole interview process and everything and got a response back saying “The application review process for the Accelerated Medical Program is still very much ongoing. The Board of Admissions will continue to contact applicants through January and into February regarding interviews, and all applicants will receive their final admission decisions in late March.”

For anyone applying NW HPME: How are you formatting the essay (Times new roman, 12 pt font, etc.) I used a spacing of 1.15 because the page limit is 2 pages, but would they care that it is not double spaced?

Interview at the Union/Albany LIM program. Anyone else get the notification this morning?

For regular “pre-med” route, consider applying to Miami University of Ohio. The application deadline is Feb. 1.
I’ll update with a list of colleges later.

Miami University of Ohio has a premedical scholars program.

@sc6789 when i submitted last year, I single-spaced my essays, but I clearly separated each essay. I’ve heard other people used different formats, so there is no one right answer

Hi everyone new cc member here…I am currently having a mental breakdown because my counselor has not submitted my recommendation to HPME yet; the recommendation is done, it’s just that I think he may be on vacation so he hasn’t checked his email/doesn’t have computer access. Same story with my other reco, but that one is optional…I’ve worked SO hard on their application and I am freaking out because these two things haven’t been completed Do any of you have any suggestions on what I can do? (I don’t have their numbers or anything)

@ggs552 hey welcome to CC! I’ll give you the same recommendation as I did to someone else: email HPME and explain why you won’t be able to get the letters in. There’s no guarantee that they’ll still review your application but at least they know that you were aware of the problem and that you tried to fix it. Speaking of which i would give your teachers/recommenders a follow up email to remind them that the deadline is approaching. Good luck!

What other programs are you applying to?

Just found out stats from BU last year:

Applied/Interviewed/Admitted: 760/90/26

Do you guys have any information about the Howard BS/MD Program? Deadlines/supplemental essays/etc…
@National I don’t know too much about the Howard program but I have heard that it mainly targets the African-American demographic. That’s not to say that you won’t get in if you’re not African American but that your time might be better spent with another application/supplement if that’s the case.
Also has anyone heard from NEOMED yet? Getting antsy that I haven’t heard back from these programs. And happy New Years everyone!
NEOMED ED interview notification was November 14th from all three consortium schools. The next (regular) round of interview notifications is early February 2015.
@travelgirl2015

Yeah, I applied to Siena/AMC. Love the service focus! I haven’t heard anything from them yet. Interview notifications will probably be sent on the 5th or 6th because I’m guessing that’s when the office opens again. We’ll probably hear from them towards the end of next week or the following week. Good luck!
