My assumption as follows
Step-1: Drxl UG forwards our Appln to Drxl SOM.
Step-2: Drxl SOM asks for $150 to review (My long ago scribbled notes says about 1000 applications reaches this stage unless my source is incorrect. @upstream may know better than me)
Step-3: We pay $150
Step-4: Drxl SOM reviews our appln. If they like our Appln, we may be invited for Interview
Step-5: We attend Interview
Step-6: If accepted, then we get admitted to BA-BS/MD
If my assumption is correct, then we are in Step-1 now.
@parentofs thanks for the list of steps and it definitely make sense that - the steps should be in that order.
But for my D - we got the step 1 today.
Step 2 and 3 happened on Dec 23rd:
Part of e-mail we got:
Thank you for your interest in Drexel University College of Medicine. We have received your Special Program supplemental application. As you know from the instructions on the application, a $150.00 nonrefundable activation and processing fee is required by the College of Medicine to complete your application to the joint program. This fee can be paid by check or on-line.
To pay the fee online, please go to our website for applicants at http://webcampus.drexelmed.edu/*****/*******. Please note your log in information: your Drexel/Banner id is _________
Please note that only one fee is required regardless of the number of joint programs you may have applied to linking with Drexel University College of Medicine.
etc… etc
oh well let’s see if we get another e-mail to pay another $150
See my email portions pasted below. Its diff from your email. U should hv got this long ago before you paid
$150 . Looks like u r 2 steps ahead of my S.
Thank you for applying to Drexel University’s accelerated BA/BS/MD program. Your file has been forwarded to the College of Medicine for review.
You should receive an email from the College of Medicine by the end of January regarding the application processing fee. An additional email will be sent to inform you if you have been selected for an interview.
If you are selected for an interview, it will be held in mid-February on the College of Medicine's campus. Final decisions for the BA/BS/MD program will be sent by the College of Medicine via U.S. Postal Service mail at the end of March.
@Me4college, The email you got on Dec 23 seems to be based on an affiliated program (such as Lehigh/Drexel); last year my S got a similar email. He eventually got emails from multiple affiliated programs, but we had to pay $150 only once. And, there was only a single interview at Drexel Med School for all of them.
@Me4college I also got the email to pay $150 and upload a picture in late December, and just today I got the email indicating that my application has been forwarded. My best guess is that I won’t receive another payment notification but I am not 100% sure.
Thank you @bsmd14 and @sc6789 for the clarification. That makes sense and clears the “batch” concept confusion. That means those who got last year, may not be from Drxl/Drxl. It could be from the other affiliated programs.
My D had the same sequence as that of @Me4college D’s. She was asked to pay for the fee last Dec. and received email today about forwarded to DUCOM. It is strange, but I believe it is waiting time on Step-4 as @parentofs described.
@parentofs My D actually applied for Drxl/Drxl program. She was asked and paid the fee last year and received forward email today. The process is little bit out of sync.
@Me4college The exact thing happened to me. I got an email from Drexel UG today saying that I would be expected to pay the fee, which I payed more than a week ago. I guess it’s lagging.
And about RPI/AMC, I had my dad call the office to see if something was wrong with my application or if I was not in the running anymore, but the office confirmed themselves that they are slow and that people will be getting the supplement for up to a month still. So I guess it’s nothing to worry about as of now!
@Me4college Thank you! I think all of the colleges will require mid year reports by the school. Typically it’s the guidance counselor’s job to send the mid year transcript to the colleges that you’ve applied to. I don’t know if the mid year report goes to the med school, but I would assume that it does since grades are always important in admissions.
